Mr Udon and Orient THai Airways

Hello everyone, just curious. He has quite a few ads on the internet for B757 crews. If I were to go out and get a 757 type would he definitley hire me? I am a yank with a US FAA ATP typed on the Hawker and Citation. I just finished a contract in KL flying a Hawker and I am really needing work. I tried calling over there but to no avail. ANy help would be great.

I used to have a friend who worked there a few years ago, but the guys in charge right now are an entirely new bunch. Whether they will accept your offer depends on the current supply and demand which I have no information at all. The chief pilot is either Canadian or British, I can't remember, but I'm sure it might be worth the trip to Bangkok to talk to them in person if you can't get a hold of the chief pilot on the phone. Good luck.

tomcat21 the best person to contact is Brian Eamor, a Canadian.

Send him a fax at 66 2 267 3217. At one stage the minimum requirement was 6 months on type.

I have heard they were having difficulty recruiting due to the low salary of US$2,500 per month plus US$25 per day per diem.

There was talk of adding a further US$500 per month salary.

Royal Brunei may assist you with a B757 rating (simulator)

Good luck

The latest posting on climbto350 shows the salary for FOs on the 757 is indeed US$3000/mos. Nice to see.

Unhappy

Time in type, time in type, time in type...unless they are very desperate.

That's the name of the game. Otherwise people would go out and buy a type and fly. Not a good idea especially for an outfit like OX since they don't really have the resource to train you or anyone for that matter.

I'd give them a call anyway cause you'd never know...

One more note. Not rain on your party 772, er...don't go to Royal Brunei for the rating unless they have an FAA examiner with an FAA approved sim.

If you are going to pay for it make sure it gets on your FAA certificate. I'm not sure how other countries treat 757 rating but the FAA will give you a dual type (common type) for the price of one, 757,767. More bang for the buck.

Hey Guys,

Can anyone currently flying for Orient Thai give details on working conditions/schedules ect? Especially in the B-747 program.

Wink

It depends on what equipment you are on. 1011 guys get the short end of the stick since they also use the 1011s for UN flights (72 - 24 hrs notice). 74 and 75 guys are on regular schedule. Long hours and lots of flying mind you. Pay sucks but you do base out of Bangkok.

Taikonaut. You seem to be in the know. I see they have posted some new info on the 350 website which I cannot access. Has the money changed? What about the perdiems?

And most importantly; What does it cost for accomodation there and what do you get for your money? Can you get blocks of days off to 'commute' home 8 hours flying away?

Many thanks. I may have to revisit the idea- BE sounds like a genuinely nice guy and Udom is gentleman too.

IU, Sorry, I don't work for them but I'm in the region. Last I heard that they might have upped the pay $500 USD for both CA and FO (5000/3000). Perdium is $50 USD per day out of BKK. You can rent a nice place for about $200 - $300/ mo. The money actually can go along way down there. Cost of living is very low in Thailand.

The additional $500, sounds like a raise but it's really not since guys were making this same amount prior to BE days (read between the lines here) 3 years ago.

What sort of nationalities are tech. crewing at Orient Thai? Do they have a simulator? How many days away from base? How much time in BKK? Any chance of commuting?
