Care to elaborate what level of experience you have. So that I can apply if I qualify

Yeah sure I've got just over 2800hrs of which just a bit over 2500hrs is jet time divided between 737-300 & 800 & my current type 757/767. There requirements are the website I think 2000hrs total of which 1000hrs should be jet if I remember correctly

I have 2400 total hours about 2000 on A320.
Congratulations SamCanDriver!

Oasis makes you pay for your type rating

I hear Oasis makes you pay for your type rating upfront before you start $165,000HK / 10,000pounds. Is this true and was it mentioned in your interview?
How do they expect to get pilots these days if you have to pay?
I also hear some have paid and others have not, I wonder how the guys feel about that.
Why not a bond for say 2 years Pro -rata.
Any feed back is welcome.

Hi Guys,

Would you care to share want sort of questions you were asked during the interview?

Thanks

handflown 3rd Apr 2008 09:07

The reason there is no bond is that Bonding is illegal in Hong Kong. Therefore they have to do something to limit the risk of pilots heading off after they have completed training. The do fund most of the trining themselves.

"Oasis makes you pay for your type rating".
The question is: Why would you like to pay that kind of money while no one has a clue about the future of that company.... They've just got their 5th aircraft (for the Dusseldorf and then Sydney soon-to-be launched routes). But it's the last one they ordered, more than a year ago. They don't have a single aircraft on order !!! And still those rumours about their desperate need of new investors.. Not that I want to be pessimistic here, let's hope they, like every other airline, make it, but......
When they started 18 months ago, they said they would get 5 744/year. It seems to me they have reduced that to 5 every 30 months???
Just my opinion, but there might be some safer bets out there....

Went to Interview3 weeks ago, go the job offer 2 weeks later.

Looking forward to it. I know a few people there and it seems like a very nice atmosphere to work in. I guess like any job in Aviation you have to keep an open mind.
