What's the latest info on Oasis?

Whats the deal?

What's the latest on number of a/c? likely movement right to left? airline funding, is it a stayer or a flash in the pan? whats the package, are there any pension plans yet, etc, etc, etc

Updates please from anyone actually flying with them?

Peak Tram Driver 14th Nov 2006 23:10

OASIS- champagne supernova

I was in the aviator the other night and from the horses mouth(a senior pilot), another 7 747-400 are on there way plus looking at 777's for regional and longhaul....interesting times ahead.Oasis have been offered some big freight contracts from Shenzen.......time will tell

Mach087 15th Nov 2006 10:19

It does sound very interesting, but need more info, to give up a good package in the uk.

any other info from fragrance harbour experts would be helpful

jetcollie 15th Nov 2006 17:13

I'm sure the package has been covered elsewhere but to summarize:
For type-rated FOs basic is £50000 based on 804 flying hours with any overtime hours paid at £67 + £2.80 TAFB + an annual bonus of 15% of basic (paid after 3 years backdated, thereafter annually). Also Loss of licence and private medical cover. There are no pension arrangements yet but the 15% bonus should help. Salary is paid into a HKG bank account. All will be taxed 16% by HKG but most countries have arrangements to prevent double taxation - assuming you declare it!

For non type-rated guys I believe internal discussions are still on-going re the best method of recovering the rating costs - you'll have to check at the interview.

It really is a very happy, friendly airline at the moment with the best of characters from BA, Cathay and elsewhere. Managers are some of the most approachable you'll ever meet. Promotion prospects are excellent on the back of the expected expansion.

I would highly recommend that you at least go along for the interview to see for yourself and be sure ask all the questions you want - then make your own mind up. Good Luck.

Gravox 15th Nov 2006 19:15

For a Hong Kong base are they offering any housing allowance?
Also if not type rated do you start as SO or FO.
Are the lay overs long?

Cheers

Avius 16th Nov 2006 00:59

Hi Jetcollie,
isn't there a plan to have crew basings in North America as soon as the Oakland route opens up ?:hmm:

Conway Bomber 2000 20th Nov 2006 16:12

Evening !

Read on the website the req. for FO's is 3000 Hrs mostly jet; would they look at 2000 Hrs mostly jet for a SO position with the opportunity of an FO position within a year or so you reckon ?
Any info/tips much appreciated !

Cheers !

Desperate for rated pilots?
They must have lost my application. I'm rated on 744 with thousands of experience but "no joy".

f/spninx 25th Nov 2006 00:08

Fo not type rated is £50000 pa but you must pay £14000 for your type rating course. So first year £36000pa minus 16% HK tax is £30240pa or £2520 per month plus flight pay.

We need to have open day soon at Novotel HKG and Copthorne LGW. Will post when confirmed. additional info for HKG crews as well as LGW.

Open days soon ?? That would be good news, that would mean things are moving!! Phantom, can you confirm that ? Did they find aircrafts??
Any news by insiders?? And wether they decided to base the next crews in Oakland or HKG ?
Also, from LGW pilots, can you tell me if you always have a stby day the day before your flight?
Thanx

Total hrs per year?

Do you mean to say that these hrs (805) are hard hrs per year? Is that on average? What about leave and days off per month? Does it take training into account? Just asking as a comparison to other contracts. Not to be critical. One more question (sorry!) Where would a guy find their contractual offers?
Thx, LC

Interviews been offered at the moment....

Just to clarify.............do you pay for your type rating if you are non type rated?

HB:)

f/spninx 30th Nov 2006 06:56

If not type rated they stop GBP14000 out of your first years salary towards the 747-400 rating. So GBP36000 as year one fo.

Silverspoonaviator 30th Nov 2006 09:31

I would kill to be with Oasis

But I am an older (very) guy, well past my sell by date, but worldwide experience. Not typed on 747.
I want a scene change, and a culture change.
I will be in HK from 5th December until 18th, so will miss the LGW dates, but would be able to see them in HK.

Any input would be apreciated.

Something has to change here, as the prospect of somebody with 2000hrs experience 737/757 wanting to pay £14000 to change to another company is remote. The chap will already be earing approx £50K, so as much as the 744 is the the King of all aircraft, nobody wants to be a Pauper to fly it. Particulary if the company wants a cadre of experience FOs for future promotion;

sounds like it's another low cost outfit sickness cutting cost outta corners but if anyone who needs a job on a widebody, worth considering.

heard they're short of guys and alot of flying.

380 latest ? rumours says they are planning to get 380 / 777's ? it'll be nice to see a low cost to operate a 380... hmm, how many pax would fit in ? 600,700 ? interesting ! hahaha

Conway Bomber 2000 5th Dec 2006 13:54

Hi there,

Like most of us here I've filled in the online application form, but to increase my chance of success an email address of the training manager would definately help :) I heard interviews were conducted by Captain Andy Kumaria ?
Any help much appreciated !

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all of you that have provided info here, nice to see facts and figures and not just "rumurs"

Regarding the E mail to the Recruitment Managers.
Can someone Please provide an e-mail.

Since the launch, how has the ops been going , aside from all the expected growing pains, are things more or less hopeful ?

Also am interested in a HKG base, anyone know when and if this may happen ??

Thanks again, and keep the dirty side down ...

Cheers .

Gents, Ladies, it is with great pleasire and joy that I can report to you that I decided to attend Oasis open day/ road show at LGW Copthorne and whilst I was there, was informed that I was successful with my applciation and now I have a real job! :-) :-)

There were tons of guys at the open day and you should all attend their next one. They having next in HKG, SYD, JNB!

neilb767 15th Dec 2006 05:24

Mangopanga,

I am also back from the Open House at LGW, but all I saw was a presentation re Oasis and some T+C.

I did not observe or hear of anyone doing interviews there, could you please enlighten us as to where and when you did you interview? and if it was via a formal invitation?

Also, they said they are getting 3 744 very soon , are you rated on the 744?

Just wondering if i missed something here, thats all.

Overall seemed like this outfit is off to a good start and has good potential. Very open and Friendly chaps doing the presentation.

Im sure this will be a venture worth the slight risk.

Good luck and congrats Mangopanga.

airamerica 18th Dec 2006 08:42

Do they base FO's in HKG?Whats the pay and entitlements?Any housing assistance?

coolfalcon 18th Dec 2006 12:53

I was unable to attens to the open day at LGW...so if someone could elaborate a little on what was said or presented...I 'd be more that grateful!!!
thanks

Mangopango, whats ur story ??

Mango,

Whats ur story dude, there are people here that are researching information about a new start airline and your misleading post are of no value.

On the Fragrant harbour forum ,you has told us you got a inteview and subsequently a job offer. Yet you have provided no details when asked by a few of the members.

On the African form , you have stated that you work in ATC

Got YA ! .... Here are your last few posts.

Thanks for nothing. Dude.

Oasis Interview Process

Hi All,

Not sure what happened but the last one never made it onto the forum. Is there is anyone out there that could lend some helpful advice, as far as what an Oasis interveiw entails. Is it strictly a tech/hr type, is there a sim eval attached to it? are they done in two parts over a period of time or consecutively on the same day? What can be expected as far as the tech questions go? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Feel free to PM me if you prefer that method

iflysky 31st Dec 2006 23:52

Do they recruit candidates through the open house only or has anyone received a call just by submitting the online app???

xavierb 1st Jan 2007 12:55

Hi Iflysky,

I applied on their website and was called for interview ( last Oct., type rated F/O)

Cheers
