Thanks for the reply. I am also trying to get a feel for what experience they are looking for? I am not type rated, but I do meet their website mins (3200TT, 1800SIC Regional Jet, 700PIC turboprop). Just wandering if I do have a shot for the FO or SO position.

Hi guys. First time ppruner........so will keep it short. Are Oasis HK Airlines hiring FOs to be based in UK or only in HKG? Is a JAA license necessary/preferred? Or will an ICAO license do the trick? What kind of hrs realistically are they looking for?

cheers,

OW

PS: Conway Bomber: Did you study/instruct at NAIA?

Whispering Giant 4th Jan 2007 17:55

FlyingOW - This is what we were told on the Open day, all F/O's from now on will be based in Hong Kong allthough this could change again.
with regards to experience they said they would consider anyone with about 2000 hours with approx 1000 on an aircraft such as the Boeing 737. Allthough i do know for a fact that they have taken on some guys with considerable less than this - and i beleave one of them was straight out of OAT and they are currently S/O's. They did state that they will not be taking on any further S/O's.
The plan is to have 8 aircraft by the end of 2007 and a total of 25 aircraft by the end of 2008 which would need in the order of 1000 flight deck crew in order to crew all the flight's.
Hope this helps.

Sound very promising ! You think they will need more flightcrew in other bases than HKG in the near future...fingers crossed !!

FlyingOW; yep NAIA; not an instructor but trained there from Dec00-Aug01.

FlyingOW 4th Jan 2007 23:11

W.G.:

Thanks for the quick reply, company sounds very promising, they certainly are going for broke......hope it all pans out for them.

I will be in the UK from the middle to the end of January. Does any one know if there will be another Open day around these dates? Any cities in the Americas maybe? Thanks in advance. ;)

Conway Bomber:

I was there from Apr. 01 till Nov. 01. We may have met or even crossed paths to and from the practice areas.:D

Cheers

Just to correct some misunderstanding:

The plan is to have

-5 Aircraft by end of 2007 (of which -I believe- all have been sourced)
-25 Aircraft by end of 2010 (not 2008)

Needles to say, that it is a very rapid expansion plan which may or may not be modified by the realities down the road. No business is without challenges. Nevertheless it is a realistic and attainable plan.

One cannot underestimate the benefit of being able to start with a 'clean sheet'. Building an organization is one thing, but changing a culture of an existing one is much harder.

Sofar, the good-will on both sides management as well as employees is intact. It will be crucial to maintain that good-will during the rapid growth phase in the coming years, especially when the company size reaches the 'critical mass' of 8-10 aircraft.

If that happens, long term success is virtually guaranteed.

The management team is very good indeed, starting with CEO, Flight Ops Dir, Ops Manager, Chief Pilot. All of these guys have tremendous experience and people skills. Not something every company can offer these days.

Joe,

Thanks for the correction... I do not claim this to be absolute facts. Thus my "correcting a misuderstanding" above might have been sounding as if I knew the fact (which I don't). My bad.

It is just what I have heard from other "unofficial" sources, such as newspapers, etc. As a matter of fact the above from a newspaper source which I "googled" a few weeks ago.

Well, this is a rumor network after all...and one needs to take everything posted with a little grain of salt, including thyself.

Hi Idol,

From what I've been told, and confirmed days ago, from recruitment, is that we should not expect any U.S. base any time soon.
Only open position now is HK.
Cheers,
Xavier

Hi Kp,
The interview I had last October, as Type-rated F/O, was a 60 ' interview with 2 pilots, one asking me a few tech. questions , the other one more about operational issues, and general discussion ( more like a H/R interview, to know a bit about your personality, ...).
No written test. No sim. I did get the results by e-mail within 10 days.
No clue if it has changed.
Have fun
Xavier
( for those asking: yes, I made it. No, I haven't signed yet. No choice of base: HK or... HK. New contract.)
Cheers

Hi there,

It seems trng dpt is now on cruize mode. Together with other guys, I'm starting early March, and it seems a bunch of guys are starting in April.
Aircrafts to come in June, August, and, apparently October.
Again, I applied last summer, had the interview in October, so don't give up !

All the best,
Xavier

I know it was asked but no one responded is there a housing allowance for FO positions and if so how much?

abortt 9th Feb 2007 07:42

Could anyone tell me where head office is. Assume management work near the airport and not at the postal address given on the website

NZLeardriver 9th Feb 2007 11:10

When will the non-typed people be starting?
