Seems that they are fine with giving a second chance to those who didn't make it through the first round interview.
Many people (including myself) in this forum managed to get a second try. There seemed to be an earlier discussion about the Application/Blank status earlier. Just to share my experience on it - I had my first attempt last year, and didn't make it past the first interview. By right, the waiting period before re-application was 6 months, but I 'by left' managed to re-apply 3 months later. My status then turned blank, and remained that way. On the 6th month, I withdrew my application and re-applied again, and this time it got through and I was called up for an interview subsequently. Hence I believe the blank status is indeed a form of rejection. However, there could be various reasons (eg. person is not yet 26, not yet past the 6 months window period etc), and once u clear the required waiting time, do try again and there will be a second chance. I even heard there was someone who got in only on his 4th attempt. All the best to those trying!:ok: |
I am wondering what's the average duration like between receiving email acceptance, till the time u receive contract? Hope those who have experience can share it here.
|
And can I just ask, you apply with a PPL or anything?
|
Nope, I didn't apply with a PPL, and no prior experience with flying
|
Guess you are waiting for a reply now? But you are 23 aren't you?
|
jber, I was already given a course date.
Hm, do u think I'm 23 cos my nickname ends with a "23"? heh, I'm actually quite a few yrs older than that. (>26) |
anyone gg for 1st round on aug19th?
|

Hi SFC172N, are u currently 23 and u got called up for first round? just grad from uni??
|
Hi there,
When we send reply to Joyce, does she actually reply back to confirm that she has received your email? Thanks |
Envy sia(hokkien, not singapore airlines!) haha.. well for myself, I got rejected after waiting for two weeks after my first interview, status suddently changed to blank. Anyone had a similar experience like I did?
|
I am going for the first interview scheduled on 5th August. Best of luck to all!
|
hey Alchemist123! are u going for the aug 22 obs?
|
Yea, 23 gg 24 this year in a mth.
And Joyce did reply a short email after I confirmed my attendance, left 2 weeks to prepare.... Anything that I should note of? |
jund013,
there may be a reply, or there may not be. I have applied twice, and I got a reply only once. So no worries even if u did not get any reply after u confirmed ur attendance for the interview. Dmits, I know of someone in this forum who saw a blank status a few weeks after his first interview, and he was called up for second round shortly after it turned blank. Hence, there could still be some hope, since u did not receive any rejection email. Kurai, All the best!:ok: When u see this ur interview is probably over. Hope all went well. Kinkykin, Heys! I'm going for the OBS in 26 Aug. Are you going too? |
any of you guys who recently went through cadet program can you shed some light on the salary during training, second officer and once you get selected as a first officer?
What about accomodation? |
Salary is well known.
Non-recognised Degree = the take your second highest qualifications. A Levels - $500 Diploma (Local Poly) - $900 Recognised Degree (can be PhD also same) - $1200 All subject to CPF. Once you finish your CPL it goes up to $1900 I believe when you finish your fleet conversion and are online as a second officer, it's $2500 + allowances. |
thanks for those figures
I have a Masters and a CPL Guys with cpl how long does it take for them to get your ATPL? |
i think second officers only get a basic pay, you don't get any flight pay, is that accurate?

Just went for my interview today. As we took our place and registered our documents, tension was in the air. One of the candidates was trying hard to chat up the senior cadets who were helping us register, while the others were holding their silence in intense focus. I chatted a little with a few of the other candidates as we were waiting. One by one the candidates were called in, and as they left, their expressions were somber and their posture tired. Soon it was my turn.
I went in this small interview room, and there were these two senior pilot captains there. One was a British, who joined SIA for 16 years, the other was a Singaporean, who was a retired pilot now with the training school. Not much ice breaker, basically just asked "how was your day today?" and then they dived straight into the interview questions. They asked all sorts of questions, from HR to Business to Engineering to flying. The entire session felt like it was over in 10 mins, but when i checked the time after that, i realized half an hour had passed. Their faces were enigmatic, I couldn't tell at all whether my answers were met with approval or not. At the end of the interview, they offered me my chance to ask questions and I left. Oh dear, I don't know how my chances measure up! |
@ Alchemist123 yup im gg for the same obs as u. trying to get all the things done from the package that they sent. u know of anyone else who is in this course? all my friends were in the previous course of the previous previous course.
