Oasis Hong Kong Airlines?

Well, just saw their add in FI. Does anybody know anything about them? Do they have a serious business plan?

VFE 6th May 2005 14:44

Seems information is a little thin on the ground at the moment. My internet search has been almost useless! Sent off my CV but it's all a bit of an unknown quantity right now. The chance to work in Hong Kong is very attractive though so I'd imagine they won't have too much trouble filling positions yesterday.

Kevin Ho 7th May 2005 06:29

I heard from a CX pilot that the destinations would be London Gatwick, Berlin, Cologne/Bonn, Milan, Chicago and Oakland.

Dart18 11th May 2005 09:17

If you guys are interested in knowing a little more about the company, NEXT magazine ran an article on their boss (maybe 2 -3 months ago). Do some digging there mates.

neilb767 16th May 2005 11:18

Thanks,

What are they flying, Bus or Mr B?

Are they looking for type rated???

Any $$$ info yet,

Thanks

Flying Mechanic 16th May 2005 12:16

Neil,
They will be operating 747-400, and the adverts in Flights says type rating would be advantageous.

Has anyone heard anything back at all from these guys? I sent my CV as soon as they advertised and not even an acknowledgement email as yet.

Same her, no reaction at all...

They still dont have HKCAD approval, hense no money spent on web site etc.

It will take some time before real recruitment starts, in HK there are no adverts for admin, ground staff, ops etc.

I only know of one guy who went straight from flight school to bombing about Kai Tak in a jumbo and he's a moderator here....

Would be great to hear a couple more of those success stories just to rekindle my faith!

They are getting PW4056 powered 747-400s implying they have sourced the frames already.

A friend in cad says the paperwork is all progressing along, but that it is a bit optimistic for a 2005 start.

sinkingship 13th Jun 2005 17:02

i think the airframes are coming from UA.

ROO-C26B 29th Jun 2006 01:52

Is there anyone out there received an invitation for a SO interview for 19/20 July?

Looked at their website the ad was advertised back in May 2005.

Anyone have any comment and info on the C&T or COS?

Cheers

hints...

Hi everyone,

Their website is www.oasis-air.com

there once was a forum on Frangrant Harbour. I think it was Oasis Hong Kong airlines merged. Lot of infos there about pay etc...

What I can tell you that hasn't been mentionned yet :

S/O £ 37'5000
F/o £ 50'000
Cpt £ 75'000

Aircraft are ex SQ

Europe destinations pilots based in Gattwick
U/S destinations pilots based in the U/S, no idea where

Starting in nov with 2 aircraft 744 with 5 weekly rotations HK - Gattwick

some people like myself applied in january 2005, got the interview in october 2005 and start the job in september. I guess all openings for the nov start are taken, but they plan to add some additional aircraft in 2007. Not clear how much yet, but surely for the U/S pretty soon.

good luck to all

ROO-C26B 29th Jun 2006 08:45

Thanks LSGG,
Do you mean my interview next month will be for start in 2007.
Could you PM me please as to how the interview was held, sim check and likely questions they would ask? I need as many info as possible since you are the inside man.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,

Roo

Due to late start the contract ran out for the ex SQ aircraft, now one from Air Atlanta & Iberia.

LSGG 30th Jun 2006 06:37

From the info I've got aircraft are actually ex SQ, operated by Air Atlanta and leased to Iberia...

Pure speculation tought...

ICAO license

Hi, guys
I just wondered if they are only base in LGW or US, is there any chance for ICAO license drivers to get a job there??
I don't mind to be base in LGW or US.... If anyone can answer this question, that will be great...

LSGG 5th Jul 2006 08:01

As I had a lot of PM concerning selection, here are some tips I can forward.

Please note that it is concerning S/O selections process and was held in october 2005. Some things might have changed since then.

Location : Heathrow BA training center lasted 1 day

Sim : Bac 1-11 basic raw data flying "CX style"

Interview : 20-30 min basic HR interview (motivations, why do you want to quit your current job etc...)

45-60 min technical interview (all ATPL topics can be covered)

Good book to prepare "ACE the technical pilot interview" by Dan Bristow. A few mistakes on some topics in this book but still great. By the way there is a forum concerning this item.

No written tests at all

Once again this was almost a year ago, so do not take these infos as the bible !

Good luck to all of you

Blue skies :ok:

interview

Hey Roo,

Looks like your interview is behind. How did it go ?

Are the hints I gave still actual or do they need some update ?

That would be nice to know for the others.

According to a press release, they said they actually hired 28 pilots but will need 70 by the end of next year...

Take care mate.

ROO-C26B 19th Jul 2006 13:12

Hi LSGG,

The format hasn't changed though lots of personal questions with limited technical questions asked. I think I did gave my best. The company have a strong base backing and it looks very promising.

Sim is tomorrow 30 minutes same as you but on an A320. T/O with air work plue 2 ILS approaches. They've mentioned they are hiring 16 SOs most will base in UK.

Which article did you gathered the info regarding the hiring?

Cheers

Roo.

Good luck with the sim !

Hi ROO-C26B & LSGG,
Hope you sim check went well yesterday(ROO-C26B).
My
interview + Sim (B737) will be Aug 1:st 2006.
I saw that you are doing your sim in A320, are you rated and flying A320?
Do you know anything about B747 rating. Do you have to pay it your self or Oasis will pay it and bond you for X years?
Take care
ndenne

LSGG 21st Jul 2006 12:25

rating

As far as I know, Bonding is not allowed under the HK law. Therefore they "keep" people another way around.

At the end of the year you're supposed to get a 15% bonus of your annual salary. Well to get this bonus (times 3) you got to wait 3 years...

As for the rating, I believe S/O only get a training and not a rating. Therefore you won't have any endorsement in your JAA license untill you become F/O. That's what was told to me during the interview.

That's my understanding of the situation if it can answear your question. But don't take it for granted.

If you applied F/O then I really don't know... I'd rather say this than doing some pure speculation...

Good luck on your interview

ROO-C26B 22nd Jul 2006 04:15

I'm not rated on an A320.

The sim profile is not hard but if you never flown an Airbus (fly-by-wire) before it will be a hand full because there is no feel or feed back from the controls. I just have learnt that from my sim check. It is hard coming from a conventional instrumentation to glass. My ride was horrible. If I have one more go 15 mintues more at it I will nail it for sure. Once you have the feel of it you will be fine. I hope that the airline will look beyond my performance in the sim.

You will be issue a P2 rating not a type rating as SO but in the case as FO you will be issue with a type rating.

Good luck on your interview! Is it in London or somewhere else?

Cheers :ok:

sinkingship 22nd Jul 2006 16:58

If you operate with a HKCAD licenece, there is a P2X type rating which is P2 but with no take off and landings, CX uses this system for their SO.

Current e-mail for Human Resources?

Hi guys,

Nice to see this thread come back to life this month. Things now seem to be really moving at Oasis!

Question: Could someone currently in touch with Oasis kindly pass me a good e-mail address for my own application? There is one listed on page 1 of this thread but I would like to make sure that has not changed since 2005.

Sadly I am not a pilot (though I tried ... next life perhaps) but rather one of those chaps that scurry around on the gound (meaning ops/cargo) :E

Thanks in advance!

Cheers

LSGG 26th Jul 2006 11:26

e-mail

Hey Chinaman,

Look the website www.oasis-air.com

It is frequently updated and you should find your info over there.

PS no shame of not being a pilot. If people like you weren't there, I think we should look for another job :bored:

Good luck

LSGG 26th Jul 2006 11:30
