hi hotellima,

thanks for the reply...

so are you implying that in fact a lot of the people who apply for CPP now actually tend to have flying experience of some sort or even have a PPL? i wonder what the % would be for people applying without any flying experience and still get in the program?

tomcatrl 12th Mar 2005 20:51

Hi topgun200204

katana-dv20 and Hotellima are right,
for sure education met the min requirement would help,
but a degree is not require.
Rather PPL is important, it's up to you, it will give you a chance to show CX that you are interest in aviation.
You may find that useful by learning some general aviation knowledge by someone quilify.
(Better then just read the book, at least you got someone explain it to you)

The knowledge you learn will be useful,
But the licence itself would not put you a better position over the other who doesn't have one.

I just got email from CX saying that the slots for 1st stage on Apr 7 and 8 have already been filled up~!
I guess I replied them too late....
anyone know when the next stage 1 date will be??

tomcatrl 14th Mar 2005 02:16

YPK, they haven't set up a date for next set of interview,
all I was told is it will be in May or June,
contact them for further detail later.

Hotellima 14th Mar 2005 05:28

Hi Topgun, I didn't mean most of the candidates for CPP have some sort of flying frs or PPL as i'm not the insider of CX. But base on the people surrounding in my circle, I know 2 guys got in with some flying hrs. I really have no clue on how many % of candidates get in without flying experiences.

I believe no matter how many hrs or how many "A"s in your transcript, if you can't perform well or outstanding in the interview, the harder you can make it. Good luck.

hey... i got the stage 1 interview in march.. but i couldnt go coz i was having school outside HK, and i was asked to call them at the end of march.. i just read these posts telling that there are interviews on 7th/8th of april.. i did call them today... however.. they told me there is no schedule of interviews arranged.. how come?????

Hotellima 14th Mar 2005 09:01

edwardlcy, according to what YPK mentioned, stage one on april 7th/8th is full. You probably need to wait til MAY or JUNE.

ypk 14th Mar 2005 16:27

Yep... in fact I just called them yesterday and spoke with Ada.... the Apr 7 and 8 1st stage dates are specifically for overseas applicants. She said the schedule for the next round of overseas interviews are not out yet... probably will be in May/June?
So I think they have different schedules for HK local vs. overseas applicants.
I presume if you are from HK.... the dates will be more frequent?
Anyone know more about this?

tomcatrl 14th Mar 2005 17:28

ypk, I spoke with Ada about that too, actually, schedule for overseas applicants will be more frequent b/c they don't want to make overseas applicant to stay too long or come back again. So they will schedule it faster.

topgun200204 14th Mar 2005 17:59

thank you hotellima for your reply

i guess your post has already given me some good info...people tend to debate between getting flying experience and getting a degree...

i think the one good answer would be to get both...but this is not a perfect world as we all know

anyway...thank you very much

edwardlcy 15th Mar 2005 10:53

i spoke with Miss Choy, but she said the schedule of April was not arranged yet.. are they treating me as local?? i wrote my HK home address in my application form, and i am studying outside HK..
oh! then i hafta fly back to HK for every interviews???
btw, what is the time separation of every interviews??

taz 15th Mar 2005 16:38

i think for locals, stage 1 - stage 3 could take up to couple months. at least that's why i've heard from Ada. That's why overseas applicants have "special" dates for these 3 interviews. Maybe you should update your info and see if you can get into the next batch of overseas.

ypk 12th Apr 2005 17:24

Hi guys,
Anyone heard anything about the next Initial Test dates for overseas applicants?
