CX Aircrew recruitment also has these so-called "preparing for the Cathay Interview" books. Interviewers are specifically briefed on the content and choose questions not covered in these self-help guides. There is no subsitute for normal study and preparation.

I have it on excellent authority that "Captains X,Y and Z" were not hired by Cathay when they tried for positions in the early 90's. It's like buying a self-help guide authored by Saddam Hussein on Military Tactics and Urban Warfare. Get real guys. Stop wasting your money and hit the books.

Cathay prep book

Thanks for the post Airman27!

These books are a great help I think in collecting and having some of the information in one place, from which you can expand your studying and know some directions to take it. There is an ever increasing amount of technical information out there, anything that helps is good with me. Please count me in.

Regards,

I found the X, Y, Z book to be spot on! They asked the same questions and that book was out of date. Circa 1995 I believe...

Don't Listen to Underwear!!!

Look at his previous posts. He is against your hiring.
The book is right on. Don't rely on it solely, but you will cover majority of the questions.
Additional literature: How to Handle Big Jets, Illustrated Book of Aerodynamics, or Aerodynamics for Naval Aviators.
Good luck!

jumpindoc - perhaps you should look at a few of Capt Underpants previous posts too? He has, as far as I can see, always tried to give sensible advice to potential CX pilots, remember his advice on the SIM ride for instance? Fairly obviously if CX Training realise that you are all using some pre-set questions for revision they will simply ask different questions, I think, once again, that Capt Underpants was trying to help CX Wannabes.

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the delay but I have been away and I had a problem with my pprune account !

Im still trying to find out where my buddy got it from so please be patient.

He is trying to find the web site that he got it from so it should be available online and it was about $70- $80.

I had a good look through it and there seems to be answers to pretty much all the common type questions and some that are well way out there.

It has 11 sections and is 115pg long including Aerodynamics, Performance , Engines , Meterology , Radio and Nav and General Knowledge etc so its quite extensive.

I would say that its not the enough to use to get through by itself but will form a great study syllabus to work to as having the answers really helps.

Its laid out in a Questions then answers type setup so you can use it to go hunting through books like Handling the big jets and the like !!

Or get someone who knows nothing about flying to just ask you questions and then flick to the answers to see how your doing !!

I would say that if you found Captain X.Y.Z helpfull then you will find this perfect.

Sorry that I cant tell you where to get it yet but I will as soon as I find out so stay posted !!

Cheers

I know where you can get it !

You guys have been very patient and I finally have an answer ( about time I hear you all say ) !

You can get it from www.bookworm.com.au

Just do a search under “ Airline “ and it will come up as

“ Airline interview questions explained “

Once again sorry I couldn’t let you know earlier its just that we both seem to be home and away at opposite times.

Hope it helps !
