A mate just emailed the HR lady and got rejected because he does'nt have a CAAS frozen ATPL. They won't provide letter of sponsorship to allow foreign licence conversion for second officer scheme.

Hey wonderland,
What do you mean about your friend being rejected? So does your friend have a current ATPL, just not a Singapore one...and in that case they are not interested?

I have a current full and valid Canadian ATPL license ... is that useable or not?

Cheers!

Then you should apply as a DEFO, if you have 1500hr on a multi crew airplane.

Just for the good order: it needs to be 1500h multi jet time on airliners!!! Got recently rejected with 3000 jet time on private jets.

This to clarify.

How about doing the CPL/IR and ATPL in US and converting it to a CAAS one upon your return? How does that work? Do you need a Letter of Sponsorship from a prospective employer to have the conversion done? I don't remember reading that on the CAAS website. And yes, the 1500hrs has to be on a commercial JET airliner, not even on a multi-engine turboprop.

Yes, you will need a later of sponsorship. Not a good idea these days with the huge backlog of caas cpl/IR holders without jobs.
