Conversion of UK RT to Indian RTR - Help

Hello Ppruners,

I was doing flight training in Miami, Florida, done with my PPL and have recently come back to India till March for the purpose of clearing the DGCA exams- Nav, Met and Reg - General category and also get my RT converted by giving part 1 as i had to attend a marriage in India.

1. After i recieved my PPL license no - i filled it in the form and sent it to CAA for the UK RT. I have been told that i will receive the RT within 2 weeks at my Indian address.

2. What is the procedure for conversion of a UK RT to Indian RTR? I know i have to give Part 1 exam for conversion right?

3. I went on the WPC site and saw we have to register online, send application online first and then by normal post too. What is the DD amount, 50 or 5000?

4. After clearing part 1, after how much time do we get our indian RT and for how long is it valid?

5. Recently read that airlines like Jet airways required full indian RT, so if i want to get that RTR (A), i need to only give part 2 or start the whole thing again?

6. Would also like to know if i clear my Gen papers that is - Nav, Met and Reg separate i can apply for a conversion of my FAA CPL with them? I hope so as they have a good period of validity.
Thanks

The DD amount is 500 rupees for the exam and 5000 rupees for issue of the license once you have passed the exam

They still havent changed the 50Rs to 500 Rs on the application form for some reason

@ coolboy007

2. You will have to appear for Part I ONLY.

3. Fees is Rs. 500

4. Can't say how long it will take to get your RT. Validity depends on how much you want. 5000/10000 for 20 years/Lifetime.

5. Give the FULL exam.

6. Yes. Papers are now valid 5 Years.

@ A69,
Thanks a lot buddy, that post was of great great help to me. So its our option whether we want a 5 yr/20/lifetime validity and the demand draft after clearing exam depends on it?

That was a new piece of info for me

@coolboy007 - Yes. But note that there is no option for 5 years on the Annexure 1-A form.

Wht about the new DGCA rule,,, for RT conversion

I came across a PDF from DGCA website saying NO RT license issued from UK or any common wealth country would be considered hence forth.

stating that only ppl with RT license isused before april 2010 are eligible for the conversion.

would really appreciate if anyone could clear the confusion.

regards... gaurav

EXTREMELY URGENT !!!

Hello everyone !

I'm doing my CPL from the US and will be going back to India for the conversion of my license.

I need some solid confirmation as to if the DGCA is accepting the Canadian and UK RT for getting the Indian FRTOL.

I've heard a lot of rumours everywhere. Some say both are accepted, others say none and some say its only with the Canadian RT !

This is urgent..if you guys could please help me out here !
Thank you so much !!

Hi
I have uk FRTOL and got mine converted to india FRTOL.

last year i send my papers to WPC i.e. flight crew licence and FRTOL (both issued by UK) along with DD and a letter which was hand delivered to their office in new delhi.

once that was done i got my RTR i think within a couple of months. Then wrote to CBSE for obtaining verification of my 10th and 12th marks card. Once this was done i put all my papers together and sent it to DGCA for FRTOL.

Wat i dont know is whether u need to pass ur conversion exams and if u need a valid Class I medical for issue of this licence. I had these with me at the time and I attached copies of the same of my application too.

once the papers were submitted took abt a month to get the licence.
