No idea CX made people pay for sim rides

Im not part of cx.. but have been following the threads for a while....
also thought that their transition programme was just the same as joining them as a Cadet just on a much shorter cost but with same results at the end.... crap package........ I could be completely wrong....

Q.1 As you will be living in HK on a very low housing allowance, how do you feel about sharing an apartment with 4 of your peers?

Q.2 As you are currently single the domestic helper you have employed is working well with your 4 flatmates, everything is being washed and ironed on time. What happens when your FA girlfriend walks in the door and says she is pregnant and wants to move in to a place of her own with the domestic helper?

Q.3 It's been 3 years since you joined and regrettably upgrade times have blown out, how do you feel about being an SO for another 2 years on the same allowance with your toddler?

Q.4 How would you handle a flight deck where all the crew members switch off to your complaints about your package and they ask you to refrain from industrial issues on the flight deck?

Q.5 You decide to leave Hong Kong with your wife for a better deal, but she doesn't want to leave Asia. How will you deal with a divorce and maintenance for your child at the International School in Hong Kong?

rebuttal

KABOY

A1. Yeah not too bad, most people in their 20s share accomadation all around the world and dont have their rent subsidised. Be good socialising.

A2. Single all the way, sick of relationships for a while plus your scenario is pretty rare

A3. Yeah not too good, won't have a toddler but, im sure previous SOs have gone through the same problem of being an SO longer than intended. How will it feel when we get upgraded to a FO after 2 years when it took you four?

A4. I'm not a little whinger like you

A5. Chicks hey.. i guess your not immune to it aswell, plan to be single for a while

Q1. Why are you a knob head?

No one in CX ever had to share accomodation, until the i-cadets showed up. So thanks again for lowering the bar.
I agree but you expect us to turn it down because we dont get our own apartment in hong kong?

Yeah right, living with 4 other men is good socialising
cathay don't hire females? couple of expat sites has listed quite a few 20 and 30 yr old females looking for a roomie. If it does turn out to be 4 men, i guess its like 4 fishing rods in the sea.

they sure did...on a proper housing allowance
we already addressed the issue we have to have share accomadation. You keep bringing this up but make like its a different point each time. We know its not a good a deal as it was and that deal was not as good as the deal before that.

Looking at rental prices in HK I don't see how HKD48,000 a month would warrant needing a roommate?

What am I missing?

The bar is only going to get lower, take what you can get.

lets just point out the difference in black and white. instead of 64,0000HK housing allowance / month (i think this was best case scenario, heared few guys only getting about 30,000hk) it is now only initially 10,000HK/month for new hires and this only goes up to about 36,000HK as a captain (dont have figures in front of me right now). So the new 2nd officer earns about 50,000hk / month less than the more expereinced second officder. But as a small gesture the new hires do get 880,000HK at the end of their first year. which is about 12-18months of HKPA on old scheme. hopefully we will be Jnr Fos by then... haha maybe not. please correct me if i have made any miscalculations or havent put in other factors.

Hope you have seen my reply on the FH forum. Just to be clear you will not make FO in 2 years. I am happy to make a substantial bet on that! 3yrs is still extremely unlikely. I would bet on 4+ for at least the next 5 years or so.

Also just so you know:

Some current SO’s on the current expat allowance find life a bit of a struggle. Thats because the housing allowance is used only for accom and cannot be used for normal living expenses. Although the HPA can be used for whatever you want the simple fact is unless you want to live in a toilet you will have to use all the HPA and a fair chunk of your salary for accom. This means you will have far far less disposable income compared to current SO’s. The fact that some of them are finding things hard should get you concerned!
