Medical Check Issue & Hiring Schedule

My doctor confirmed me the diagnosis of IgA nephropathy. Would this disease make me fail the class 1 medical check?

I am a fourth year student. After my graduation, I am going to apply the cadet pilot programme. Does anyone know if CX is going to hire any cadets in 2010? Normally, when does CX start accepting the application? How long is the selection process of the program? Does anyone have any detail information about the selection process?

I would be surprised if you passed the medical check with that condition, unfortunately.

As for your other questions, take a look at some of the cadet threads in this section. You should be able to find all the answers quite easily.

Hi everyone !

I was just wondering if I could be accepted in the Cathay Pacific Cadet Pilot Programme if I am nearsighted above the limit which is -3/+3 dioptre ? Can we get a derogation and be accepted with it ? I'm currently not above the limit but I just wanted to know it in case of. But since two years, it has stabilized (under the limit). In fact, being nearsighted, have I the same chances than somebody who is not ? Otherwise, are the standards in Hong Kong different or the same than in Europe ?

Thank you very much in advance !

I have not found any sources stating that the Cathay visual standards should be within +3/-3 dioptres for nearsightedness - can i ask how you found this out.

I've applied for the program and i'm around -2, i know that in the UK the limit for a class 1 medical is +6/-6.

Thank you for your answer lde1988 !

This is the limit applied in France. Above -3/+3, we have to get a derogation. It makes me happy that we can apply CPP even if we are nearsighted. Otherwise, did you passed your medical examination at stage 2 ?
