Cathay basing

Hi folks, I've had a good look around the forum but can't find an answer so maybe someone can help.

If I were to join Cathay then it would be as an SO given my hours, so it would mean moving to Hong Kong initially. However, once I am free to leave HK, as an FO I presume, would I be able to live in any base or only the ones in my native country? Specifically would I be able to live in Australia even though I have a UK passport?

Its about 3 years to FO isn't it?

As far as I know, you can work in any country you have the right to live in and work in now. I don't think Cathay sponsors pilots to work in other countries. You could however, go through the normal channels applying for a permanent visa into Australia...... I think though it would take a lot longer than 3 years to go from HK to Aus, even though you may become an FO in 3.
