CPP initial test
hello everyone
i was inivited to participate the initial test of CX's CPP. to be honest, i am very nervous, i know its only the very first stage, but its like a dream for me. (p.s. i dont have any PL nor flying exp)
now, i begin to worry about the test, i dont want to let this chance slip away... i think i am somewhat over-reacted (is this normal to everyone else ?)
please help me out and give me some ideas regarding the initial test.
1. "English Test (Listening & Grammar)" is it just normal english ? or do i need to know many aviation terms ?
2. what exactly is the "Reasoning Test" ?
3. what do i do in the "Aptitude Test (Eye-hand co-ordination)" ?
4. what are they expecting from the presentation ""The training aspect of the Cadet Pilot Programme at Cathay Pacific" ? do i introduce the CPP? or express my point of view?
many many thanks and look forward for reply.

i did read most of the threads in "Fragrant Harbour Wannabes" and i did found something similar, but were not answering my questions
for instance, i dont see anything related to the presentation (what kind of content do they expect? is it in front of a group and other candidates?) and the reasoning test (what exactly is it? etc.)
and btw, does Qantas's aptitude test still a good source for pratice?

hi
simply type these words into searching engine and you will get what you want to get. people here now normally wont enclose too detail about the selection process, such as topic of presentation etc. Please put your max efforts on it if you really wanna get the job.
good luck!

1. Normal English test, nothing about Aviation phraseology.
2. In a way similar to the Qantas test. Not much you can do to prepare for it. You shouldn't be worrying about it.
3. You play with the stick and rudder to do a certain tasks.
4. Just say whatever you know about the program. You do it one on one with the recruiter.
The only thing you can really prepare is the Oral presentation. Do a thorough research and talk for 3, 4 mins is good enough.
Good luck!

If you have searched and you couldn't find it, it simply means that you didn't search hard enough. How about this two threads?
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=87694
http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthread.php?t=200088
As someone else have already mentioned, if you want this hard enough, you should be able to find anything and everything you want to know.
Good luck.

here a little want to share, you can get information about CX CPP selection process here, some are old, some are new, some are truths, some are not. But those information certainly not let you feel more comfortable . More you know about, it confuses you more. I am struggling right now.
anyway, I am not going the initial test on 2nd april, but the one later.
Good luck to you all!

Just took the initial test,
some suggestions:
Pace yourself on the aptitude test, there is plenty of time to do all the sections. If you rush it one after the other you can finish in 1/2 the time, but your eyes, hands, and brain will be numb by the end. Give yourself a breather between each challenge.
Work fast on the reasoning test, especially the second section. Questions get harder and harder, to my knowledge most ppl don't finish or have to guess by the end. So don't get stuck on one question for more than a minute ~ move on.
Presentation, erm.. be smart, remember what you can, use notes to help you out. This is a test mostly for your english, so content isn't so important. Having said that, if you finish too early, or just reread the the CPP description from the cathay website, then expect some follow up questions. The examiner is nice, polite, but curt; expect to go in and get started right away.
English?... British accent .. grrr

I have talked to a HR personnel during the informal lunch. She told me that she will deduct points from your oral presentation if you read from your paper. It's best to memorize what you are going to present. Practice makes perfect. Cheers~
