fish Career SO?

Just for the sake of argument, is it possible or desirable to be a career CX SO? Assuming someone is an SO, enjoys their schedule, is able to commute from home and doesn't feel that upgrading to FO would provide the same QOL, is it possible to stay in the bunk for a career or is upgrade mandatory at some point.

I've known plenty of guys that have sat in the right seat for years and years because their QOL is so good, but I've never heard if people do this in the SO seat.

Cheers.

yeah of course it's possible, if you expect your career to last 3-4 years only

CX sacks ya if u can't pass your JFO upgrade, and it's mandatory to move up the rank.

What is the difference between a JFO/FO/Senior FO? And how long to upgrade to each stage now and in the future?
Thanks!

Apart from a few technical differences between JFO and FO, there is none except money.

Thanks for the response.
Is upgrade from JFO to FO based on seniority, an arbitrary time period, or ....?
