Cathay Medical
So I have a slight color vision deficiency. I couldn't pass the Ishihara Plates test, but I did pass the Farnsworth Panel D-15 test and have held a first class medical with no restrictions. Is the a problem for Cathay
Also, I'm on Blood Pressure Meds, the BP is under fine control with them, I run 4 to 5 miles a day also. Both my parents are on them, so the doctor says it is hereditary. All I need for the FAA is to have my BP checked once a year. Is this a problem for the Cathay medical?
With both of the issues, I hold a First class with no restrictions.

CX states that all they want to see is that you would be able to hold a medical till retirement.
They don't actually have a policy on colour vision - so chances are that should be ok. Blood pressure I don't know about - might be an issue.
Have you done an interview? Might be an idea to contact Dr R Cocks at CX city in Hong Kong and talk to him directly before you go to all the effort of studying for an interview.

Haven't even applied yet, just doing some research. I don't want to do all the work if it was just going to be an automatic no.
Also, my dad is 59 been on BP meds for almost 30 years (he is 5'6" 140lbs), he isn't a pilot, but would have been able to hold a first class medical his entire life (given the BP med policy in the states).

I am in the same situation as you are. I failed the Ishihara plates test but was able to pass the Farnsworth D15. Unfortunately, HK CAD does not accept the result from Farnsworth D15. ONe useful thing you can do , is to do the FAA signal light gun test. The Hk civil aviation department would accept a fully documented pass on a FAA signal light gun test. And if the CAD said you are Ok, Cx will consider you colour safe.
I got these information from CX medical doc. Should be very reliable info.

I've gone through the Cadet medical, and for me it came after Stage 3 interview. So I'd have to agree you should find out as much as you can about being medically ok for CX before going thru all the hoops.
Why do CX leave it so late for the med? By the time you do the medical they've interviewed you 3 times, watched you do 2 team exercises and about 8 hours of tests. Obviously the medicals take time and money but since the rqmts are essential would make sense to me to do it between the 1st and 2nd stages. Its quite possible for Cathay to waste a lot of time on an applicant who can never be a pilot.

It’s much cheaper wasting a few resources on the very few candidates that fail the medical at stage three than try and conduct medicals on hundreds of candidates that made it through stage one to stage two. We simply don’t have the resources to conduct that many medicals on an ongoing basis and still be able to conduct the annual and in some cases bi-annual medicals for 2200 pilots that already work here.

Keep in mind that to get an interview you are already someone that holds a medical and have held it for several years. Very very few guys get rejected due medical.
