... if I bring my dog can we afford to live in a house with a garden on an FOs wage in HK? How far are the nearest houses from town? I know condos are the norm but want to avoid if possible - much rather make husband travel further to work and live in house!

Yes you can but only if you rent.
I am about 35 minutes from town by bus - 25 minutes by car (no traffic).

If you are the wife of a prospective Cathay Pilot why are you looking at FO wage in HK? There are no direct entry FO positions in HK.
