Cathay Rapid Command
Hey Guys,
I am posting here (for the first time) for my dad who is currently flying for AA but will be reaching the retirement age in August.
We'd like to pick your brains about CX's Rapid Command Program. Specifically, what they look for in direct entry captains. What is the competition like for this position? Is a 74-Type Rating really just "preferred", or is it mandatory? Will they even consider a fifty-nine year old pilot?
Thanks for your time!

Thanks guys for the replies! They are very much appreciated.
Night Watch - Yeah, that definitely puts a damper on that plan. Thanks for the basic, no fluff, answer.
SunNFun - Thanks for the suggestion! I will relay that info on to my dad.
If anyone else has any other suggestions, they would be most welcome.
Lastly, I have my own questions regarding CX, just to satisfy some curiosity. Specifically: How long are the upgrades, roughly? What is the competition like to get in as a DE FO?
