Apply Early?
Hello everyone,
Here's my stats: 970 hours, 335 multi, 300+ multi turbine 2-crew airline, 525 single piston PIC.
I know that I'm far from meeting the competitive mins for CX DESO, but I was wondering whether or not it is okay to apply online via the CX website and simply update my profile every 6 months or so? I have been told that some companies really dislike it when people apply without meeting the mins (they say it shows that you can't follow their instructions); however, I thought it might show interest in the company.
Thoughts?

Companies like CX will note when you apply and how often you update them. I know a gentleman who applied and updated his application every 6 months. There was a period where he stopped because he thought it wasn't worth updating. He finally got an interview, and the interviewers asked him why he stopped updating within that period.
You mentioned, "I know that I'm far from meeting the competitive mins for CX DESO...". It doesn't hurt to apply now and start a profile. You'll probably get a call few years down the road. I think you need like 2000-3000TT and 1000 multi-turbine.
Are you Canadian?

Not too sure about the situation in Aus. What kind of jobs do most pilots get when they finish their trg? Do they have to start off as a baggage handler, fueller, to get their foot in the door?

I tried to apply but it wouldnt allow me to go through with my application because I dont have 1000hrs. (20 hrs shy, should have it by the end of the month).
One of the other requirements was to have the ATP exams written complete. I do not have the Canadian exams done at this time, but I am currently studying and hope to write them this summer (I cant write the exams in the city where I live, so Id need to wait to get time off work or until the summer to take vacation). Does anyone know if this will prevent me from going through with the application as well?
Also, for anyone who has completed the online app, what kind of things can I prepare in advance (i.e. are there any essays to write, or is it all questionnaries?).
Thanks again.

Hey Macgyver, I found your multi purpose survival kit in the airplane the other day. Where do you want me to send the paper clip?
(sorry, I know it's not very productive, but I had to...)

Macgyver,
Hmm... you work for perimeter, your nickname is macgyver is this CK?
If so we did a gps ground school together. (HT friend of HN)
RE: ATPL Written requirements, that was a roadblock in my application as well. If you do not check the box saying you've written the exams you cannot continue with the application.

Thanks HT,
Yup I was in the groundschool with you. Thanks for the responst too... I guess I'll have to wait until I write the exams to go through with the application. That should be soon though, I hope.
