kurimaw,

first you have to be connected with an employee in LTP preferably from the line or base maintenance dept so you will not be assigned to office work. if your from PATTS, get a NBI and police clearance and secure a waiver/recomendation from ms. villanos at the guidance councilor office. basically what they asked from me in my training was my resume and a 1x1 id pic w/ red background for my ID. thats all. if you have connections in LTP they wont ask much from you in the interview.

if you want you can start your training now so you can get your diploma immediately after your graduation like what i did but ill warn you, its gonna be hectic bro. my sched b4 was 9am-3pm i was in skul then 4pm-12am i was in LTP so you do the math hehe!

dj852,

any news about your psycho exam results? i re scheduled my medical on may 17 so i can have more time to prepare hehe!

anansi_boy,

finished w/ your medical? do you get your medical results immediately or do you have to wait for it?

zenflyer,

Thanks for the accommodation info. I will look into it. Is ermita far from QC or Makati? Hahah…. I hope im not sounding to ignorant, but Manila is such a big place… and getting my bearing when Im there just doesn’t seem possible when I only stay usually a short time.

I submitted my application in March, but was sent back due to my citizenship not being Filipino, so I guess that was officially lodged on April 20? That included all citizenship papers, and certificate from my uni, since my full transcript wont be available till the end of June.

blue_crush,

congrats! Not too far away now…. Hope you do well on you final medical!

Wow! That means 3 batches for this year… PAL are really covering themselves for the upcoming shortage of pilots…

I know it’s a little early to be asking this, but is there leave time? Like Christmas and NYE, or my Grad ceremony? Though I graduate this june, with all papers and docs finalized, the ceremony wont be held until Nov…. so im hoping PAL would give me the week or so off to come back to Sydney so I can see my parents smile as I get that certificate again…. How likely is it that they will grant this?

Haha… well I guess first things first, securing a position with PALav, then play it from there…

See you guys soon! Keep us posted on your progress!

Congrats and good luck!

Difference of Initial Medical with Final Medical

Hi guys,

Just handed in my application to PAL! Sorry can i just ask what the difference between the initial medical exam and the final medical exam is? If you dont pass the Normal BMI by initial medical exam time, will you be rejected? I checked my BMI on the net and I'm overweight by 10 pounds so I have a lot of P.T. to do. Or is the BMI checked only during the Final Medicals? That'll give me more time to get back in shape.

Also, is there a psychometric testing where we have to do some math, abstract reasoning and english?

Thanks!

zenflyer,

in the initial medical stage, they will just check you far vision, color vision depth perseption, height, weight, body frame and complection. the final medical is a whole new ballgame, they will check you from head to toe in diff hospitals in the metro.
your BMI/body frame will be checked on your initial medical, i was 20lbs overweight when i had mine checked. Dr. Gil told me to lose weight fast b4 my final medical, i hope you get the idea. i dont think the psychometric testing will be a problem for you, almost all questions are basic, quick and positive thinking is all you will need.

Toulost sir,

Thanks for the info. It’s good to now have someone on the inside who would know more of the process than we would. Just out of interest, these days, what percentage of successful applicants are female? would it be almost at par?

Zenflyer,

That puts you in my boat...welcome and take a seat as we wait…

Lets now hope that 2007A can get finalised and started asap, so that PAL can get the ball rolling on beta.

“Pantay-pantay lang rin tayo dito sa PPRUNE”. Ahhh… right. That just made me realize that my tagalog skills are rougher than I had thought. Now, would this hinder my ability to learn with PALav? Or are the text which are used in English? Though I do understand tagalog, and can speak some…. reading tagalog is not so simple.

have a good weekend!

hi guys! any news on your applications?

Toulost,

sorry sir can't help it! hehe! looks like its gonna be crowded up there if ever they decide to handle 4 batches of trainees but its all good coz it means more opportunities for us pilot wannabes.

sydav,

i don't think reading tagalog would be a problem for you while training coz i haven't seen or heard of an aircraft manual translated in tagalog hehe!

Start of 2007 Bravo?

Hey guys,

Aside from Sydav and me, is anyone else here applying for 2007 Bravo class since 2007 Alpha is already closed for new applications? Does anyone have reliable info on when its really going to start or when the tentative sked for the Orientation will be? I called up PAL learning center to ask and someone (assistant I think named Daryl) said that orientation will be held in October still. Im not sure if he meant that the batch training will start in October or if the orientation will start in October. If he meant that orientation would be in October then doesnt that mean that training wont start in October since it takes a number of months for testing and screening of applicants to take place (probably 2 to 3 months?) I didnt want to ask him anymore since I didnt want to be makulit Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks!!

zenflyer,

i think no one knows the exact date for the 2007 bravo batch, even PAL av can't say what date it would actually start. all they have is a target date kasi nga there are "divine interventions" that causes delays in every batch as Toulost said before... im sure PAL av will contact those who have passed their application papers and those who did not make it in the last batch if they decide to start recruitment for the 2007 bravo.

thank god for zenflyer! i was about to call them tomorrow and ask how my application was coming along. calling from here is not so easy, also given that i live in a house with no phone line.

i have not heard anything from PAL. I hope they deal with international filips in the same way, that they would contact me too by the same means?

so zenflyer, please keep me updated if you hear anything, and i will let you know likewise.

hows the rest of your processing coming along guys?
