Urgent Question For Canadian CX Pilots

Hi there, I'm a Canadian citizen and I recently received my start date for Adelaide but I'm having a lot of trouble getting a definitive answer from the australian government regarding the type of business visa required for the training. I seem to be getting a lot of conflicting information. Has any other Canadian been through this lately and could you shed some light on the type of visa required, how to apply, and how long it might take to be approved? Are Canadians required to obtain an occupational trainee visa which is sponsored by CX? I would really appreciate any information that might guide me in the right direction - my start date is coming up quickly.

It seems to me that if you are being based somewhere on behalf of CX they will know what is required and how to get it. I would call Ops first, then the Australian Embassy in YOW or a Consulate where you live. It seems illogical to me that you will be turned loose without support from the company.

I was down to Adelaide back in April. I believe I applied for a short validity business eta. It is all done electronically and is instantanous. www.eta.immi.gov.au/index.html. As said before a call to the embassy just to be sure is a good idea but I am pretty certain that is what I applied for.

Marbles has it right.

Go to the Australian immigration website and buy the short business stay ETA. $20 AUD. It'll be billed to your credit card within seconds.

Write down the visa number for your records but when you check in for your flight to ADL your approval will automatically show up on the check-in clerk's computer. No paper visa required.
