maybe you wanna get more hours back home first and try to get on heavier a/c if you can, otherwise try somewhere else to get more hours and experience including at least an ATPL. There are some jobs available in NZ. check out the recruitment agencies

As we all know Asia is indeed a big place...
If you want to build up your hours by working for an airline, I think you might have some luck if you go to the mainland China, my friend from Australia got in when he had only 300 hours, now he is flying the 737 for a certain chinese airline.
Good luck

How to get a job in China?
To Flyer_spotter
You mention about your friend from Australia is now working in the airlines in China. I have a similar background that I also learn flying from Australia. Can you tell me how your friends get in touch with the airlines in China? I have absolutely no contacts with anyone in China. Thanks.

Guys, I'm not saying it did'nt happen but an extremely unlikely scenario in general, and especially at the moment.
The major Chinese airlines are all operating on handouts from the government, China eastern just reported a huge loss, so I am pretty sure they won't be looking for low hour non type rated pilots.
The pay is low in China and the tax high, and they have ridiculously high bonds ( yes I know there are expats in China earning 12-15K USD/month, they had 1000s of hours on type and usually jet command time also, it is not the norm )
Hong Kong wise, forget it, even the bottom feeders HKA/HKE will need more than 700 hrs and they don't seem to be hiring westerners ( or anyone ) at present.
Yeh, I would love to know the name of the " certain Chinese airline "
