Info needed on ADL and HKG.
need some info:
did the interview in HKG last september and will start in may in ADL. when do i need to take the medical again? In ADL or after I´m back from ADL, or next september? (need to do some sports before).
I understand the simulator training is 10 weeks? is it really that long? what do you do every day? every day simulator training or also some days off??
thank you very much!

Alpine,
I don't remember doing another medical until 12 months after the one for the 2nd interview. Someone may correct me if i'm wrong.
Do you mean sim training in ADL or HKG ? Training in ADL in the sim is only about a week and a half, some days off but not many. Sim training in HKG will depend on what fleet you're on. The Airbus has 15 sessions whereas the 744 only has about 6. I'm not sure about the 777. Ground school for Airbus and 744 are about 2-3 weeks long, again depending on what fleet.
For me, it took 4 months from start in ADL until the line check on the A340. 1 month in ADL, 2.5 months of line training, the rest is ade up of general admin stuff, sim conversion training and ground school.
Generally you get 2 days off a week until you start line training where you could find yourself with up to 12 days off before the next flight. As a SO, get used to this much time off between flights.

thank you very much waldopepper, for the good information.
So I have only 6 sessions on the b744? and that in 10 weeks? or does that also include line training?
4 months from staring in ADL to the release flight is not that bad...

I guess that would include the line training as well. Don't quote me on the "6" sessions as I don't fly the 744 and only had some friends going through at the same time.
boocs,
I quite often get that many days off in-between flights…and i'm CCQ'd…and not on a super compact roster. Not every flight, but for that to happen once a month is not uncommon for me. Just bid for a ULH flight each month and it turns out OK.

hey guys
for cadets who become SO's do they get to chose the 744 or airbus or is it assigned? Also as far as bidding for routes, for an SO how likely are you to get your 1st bid?
Minimums!

Minimums,
Some people get givena choice, others not. It depends where they need at the time. I was initially given 744, but then asked that if i wanted to start a month early I would have to change to the Airbus.
I'm not sure about cadets but i assume it would be the same thing.
I get most of my bids, but I only bid for 1 or 2 things per roster.

Minimums!
Cadets are asked which aircraft type they are interested in during at least one of the interviews, but it's nothing official towards a preferance. They will be assigned onto aircraft types for which they are needed on at the time. So unfortunately, no, they do not get a choice.
