Talking CX DEFO in Vancouver

Hi All I just got the call and email from Pauline notifying me I have an Interview in Vancouver on Dec 14th. No the quest is re-energized. Anyone else heading there on that date? Also I've been out of the loop for a while and need to get updated on current interview information. I will be reading this board alot and I would greatly appreciate any and all help.

I currently fly the EMB-135 for a corporate shuttle, furloughed major US airline FO on the MD-80.

AHP, you DO know that CX will want a notarised letter of resignation from your former employers ALL of them, right?

CX doesn't consider itself a stop-gap airline and doesn't want furlougees.

Cpt. Thanks and that is great with me since I dont want to go back to my former airline, esp since it was through a merger and not my choice of airlines to fly with. I appreciate the information in advance, thank you

Hi Tailwinds,

sorry I cannot answer even one of your questions so fare, however- just out of curiosity and my personal interest:

Did they explicitly invite you for an FO-Interview ??

All good luck to you!

First things first...The myths vs reallity...cpt underpants is far from correct in saying that CX does not want to hire furloughed airline pilots. I know of many "fellow TWA pilots" that have been hired and are on line as we speak. The week I was interviewing in HK ten of us all ate dinner together(including a few USAIR pilots.) Most of them were already in training or "to be hired."

Now, there is a ton of good info on this site that will help. Just keep an open mind. Send me a message if I can help.

CX DO want a letter of resignation...trust me. They will ask you for it and you have to produce it. Fake it at your peril.

While I know what you were trying to say, we do infact employ furloughed pilots from the US and plenty of them. You are very correct in stating that you must produce evidence though that you have resigned from your previous employers. There is no exception from this rule.

Yes they want proof of resignation, however they don't want it before you start working for them. SO DO NOT resign until you have passed the selection and have been advised of a start date. On your first day of employment in Hong Kong you will be asked to give them proof of resignation from previous employment.

THAT's what I MEANT to say. Thanks fellows - I really was not implying in any way that CX won't employ furloughees, only that it won't employ those who still hold a seniority number on another co's list.
