HK class 1 medical requirement?
I am sorry if I posted this at the wrong place.
I am wondering if there are any information on the class 1 requirement of Hong Kong? Since I am slightly short sighted but I do have 2.0 and 2.5 astigmatism.
I am wonding if that will serious affect me getting a class 1...
thanks

If I got it correct you'll need to see 20/20 or have a visus of 1.0 basically the same. But if you see less than 2/20 or 0.1 without correction you've to see an doctor. He'll take an look inside and check for glaucomia or cataract that's all.

more information about astigmatism and eye check
I understand your worries as I've got 200-250 degree astigmatism (chinese saying) at one of my eyes too but I did pass my class 1. I can't tell the exact requirement as it would only be known by the registered doctor, but I can share the procedure of eye check for your reference.
- distant eye check on each eye with glasses
- distant eye check on each eye without glasses
- near object eye check on both eyes without glasses (the font is as small as those at the back of DVD covers) but I can still see by using my normal eye (without astigmatism)
- retina/cornea check by machine
- eye movement check by focusing the pen moving from left to right and front to back
- colorblindness check
To conclude,
- good glasses is needed, (contact is also fine but not recommand lasic - radial keratotomy)
- able to see distant object with correction lens
- able to see close object without correction lens
- no colorblindness
- good eye condition on retina/cornea
p.s. the above is only my personal experience, you can consult registrated aviation doctors or CAD for more details
Good luck everybody~

Hi fellow pilots,
I've a list of HKCAD approved doctors. It's a Acrobat Reader format and I'm not sure how to copy & paste. Can anyone assist me or I can email you the list
