Hello nisa,

There are numerous ways of preparing interviews, simple example is searching around this forum,http://www.pprune.org/forums/showthr...hreadid=153728

Now, having very little knowledge of aviation, would definitely make your chance of getting accepted smaller...however, be yourself and good luck.

EDITED: also look for some books regarding the CX cadet interviews, they do a great job of giving you some ideas of what the questions are. good luck.

But its written on the web that "you don't need to have any experience in flying " but i think it'll be better if i can find the book that you are recommanding. In which book store will i be able to find that book out since im a permanent resident of Hong Kong.

nisa, don't listen to CathayPacific, what he just said is total crap.

The cadet program like you said does not require applicants to know anything about planes. Knowing a bit 'may' help but MOST importantly I would think is to show them you are VERY keen to learn and become a pilot. That's all they want I think, they will teach you everything you'll need to know. All you need to do is show them you really want to learn it. So no your chances are NOT smaller by any means, maybe reading a bit about Cathay Pacific Airways history, company information, etc. would show them you're keen to join.

404 Titan, and the others would give you a much better reply I'm sure! And also, if you really want, here is a link to the book which most Cathay applicants use, not sure whether it's for direct entry or cadets though but here it is: http://www.downunderpilotshop.com.au...9&cat=0&page=1

Good luck!

I have the 9th edition of that book. Personally, I don't find it very useful for cadet applicants (I'm going to apply sooner or later). I only found like 1 paragraph referring to the Cadet Program. I also had a chance to browse thru the 10th edition in a store by YVR, also not too helpful. Personally, I find the info posted here are more informative. Just remember, the search button is your friend.

Hi everyone, here are some of my personal opinions towards cpp:

i) I think you should prepare everything you can including some information about the company, basic aviation and aerodynamic knowledge. These all are not only for the sake of showing passion and answering technical questions, but also benefit yourself when you do your flight grading and cadet programme.

ii) We all know the basic requirement of application is to pass in HKCE and AL, but it doesn't mean they don't prefer candidate with good academic result. Same theory can be applied to "The cadet program like you said does not require applicants to know anything about planes"

iii) CX will send you a guide book for your technical tests and interview, but KA doesn't! I am afraid you will have dead air with 2 KA captains and a senior crew manager if your dictionary is blank.

iv) Time is tight, please try your best to grab every information and knowledge, digest them!! Then be yourself and confident! You can make it mate~

These all are some feedback after I passed all stages and I will have my Flight Grading next month. Good Luck~

Ah crap, I already know they will look at my transcript but I wonder if a B average at an oversea university will cut it. Also, how much you think CX will care about previous employment? And no, I didn't work at a fast food joint.

Nisa, if you relaly want the correct answer, you have to ask more specificly. Tech question is different to flying experince.
And thing is that if you don't know much about planes, or even as you said, nothing, it's pretty hard to show that you are keen about aviation or this job.
If you are in a hurry for this job, prepare it well

All you need to do is show them you really want to learn it. So no your chances are NOT smaller by any means, maybe reading a bit about Cathay Pacific Airways history, company information, etc. would show them you're keen to join.
This is part of the preparation, but what I'm trying to tell nisa is that something is better than NOTHING.
