What to expect after Stage 1?

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all your help in advance.

I went to the CX Cadet Pilot Program, Stage 1 initial test and CX invited me to go in for another interview next week. So what should I expect from this interview? Is there anything that I am supposed to prepare myself for this interview? What kind of questions will they ask me? Have anyone been through this interview and got any advice for me? Thanks for all your help in advance. Ciao.

Hey,

didn't they interview you during stage one? Or is the up-coming one stage 2?

Stage 1 is just an initial test nowadays. No interview... you go in for an afternoon to complete English listening and grammer test and then you do your aptitude and then your reasoning... also you have to do a presentation (I think they consider this an oral english test)... and that's it... after that they told yus that we will get your results within 3 weeks and we will know will we move onto the next stage. so I am assuming the interview is stage 2 but who knows? Anyone know anything that I should know before getting into this interview?

Cathay Cadet - Stages

Just to clarify for everyone...

Stage 1 is split into two parts (on two days).

Stage 1 (a) (if you like) - Aptitude testing, basic arithmatic tests, presentation, etc...etc...etc..

Stage 1 (b) - Interview with HR department and flight crew rep. In this they will ask you about your history, personal situation, family. They want to see that you know yourself and that you aren't just doing this because you have nothing better to do.

Secret is to be honest and sure of yourself. Sell yourself to the company. Give them every indication that you absolutely want the job.

Stage 2 - Whole day affair, Mangement Interview and Flight Grading.

At least that's what can see.

The timing of the calls does not signify that you have done well or badly. It is simply a matter of the position of your file in the pile (i.e. when they received your application), and how many 'slots' they have for the next stage. If your file is on the top, then you will get called the next day. They will wait for your acceptance, before ringing the next person, so they don't overbook the interview slots.

Hey all,

It's really good to know that now they break satge 1 into two diff thing. Cos it wasn't there when i went for the interview last year. However, I'd probaly prefer everything on the same day LOL, cos I live on the other side of HK, gonna take me 2hrs to get there. Regarding the presentation, do they give you a topic of what to present? anything technical?
Would selling yourself too hard back fire on you?

cheers guys!! GOOD LUCK !!

2 Hours is a problem? I am 16+ hours by A340 away and I am quitting my job to go back just for the interviews. 2 hours isn't that bad...

Stage1

Hi gotak,

Good luck to you! But I would suggest you to keep your job instead of quiting it just for the interview. The interview is pretty tough, nothing you can prepare for, expect to get grilled by the HR

cl12pv2: Flight grading??? since when? in the Sim? I had an interview back in the end of Jan, and there werent any flight grading Stage 2.....would that be for D/E SO? Traditionally, isnt flight grading is offered to the last two of the 4 stages?

Please clarify

THanks

I believed it's for DESO only. From the resources, it was clearly stated that Flight grading for the CPP are in stage 4. Unless CX changed the CPP program again...

Hi

Flight grading is actually stage 5 if medical is not counted in

Stage 1: initial test
Stage 2: First interview
Stage 3: Second interview and full day assessment
Stage ?: Medical
Stage 4: Management interview
Stage 5: Flight grading

Hey guys,

Let's not get hung up on 'Stage this' and 'Stage that'! What we call different 'steps' is not what Cathay call different steps.

BigJim has the order right in the previous post.
First thing: initial test
Second Thing: First interview
Third thing: Second interview and full day assessment
Fourth thing: Medical
Fith Thing: Management interview
Sixth thing: Flight grading

Now, CX don't call each of these one stage. For example, First thing and Second Thing together = Stage 1. I don't know whether they have Stage Two, Three and Four etc....

I thought Stage 2 = Third Thing, fifth thing

Medical is not called a stage, and Flight Grading is called Flight Grading.

Therefore:

Stage 1, Stage 2, Medical and Flight Grading in that order!

BTW, Flight Grading is included for Cadet Course procedure. If you didn't know that, then you had better read the website before your first interview. That is basic knowledge.

I am happy to be corrected by a rep. from Cathay on this...(I only got to the full day assessment. But all the way through, no one from CX talked about 'Stage 3'. They just talked about the Management Interview and Flight Grading.
