Any answers to these interview Q's??
1) 747-400 CX uses FADEC, correct?
2) Do the "new" used 744's with the P&W engines have FADEC?
3) What exact P&W engines are they? What thrust?
4) Are any of the "new" used 744's GE? If so, type and thrust?
5) Am I correct that all current 747's at CX use RB211's, and all other fleet types (except for the A340-300's), use the Trent?
6) What is the exact designation of the Trent? What thrust?
7) What is the thrust of the GE CFM56? Is this engine only on the 340-300 at CX?
8) What is the PSI of the MLG on the 744's? Hydroplaning speed?
9) Vmcg and Vmca speeds for 744?
10) Is CX cargo currently or planning to fly into ATL? DFW?
11) Is the nonstop A340-600 from HKG-JFK their longest flight?
12) Is Xiamen the newest destination? Is the A330 or the 772 used?
13) On 744 can you Xfer fuel from center tank to tail tank?
14) Anything special to bring up if asked about 744 pressurisation system?
15) 744, how are flaps powered? Electrically activated and hydraulically activated?
16) Are the 5 jetstreams the polar frontal x 2, subtropical x 2, and thermal equator?
17) How do you know when you are clear of the critical area after landing and you turn off in low visibility procedures?
18) Thanks!

1/ Technically no - RR uses FAFC - full authority fuel control - although it can be termed as FADEC, FADEC I believe comes from GE
2/ Don't know yet
3/Pratt 4000's thrust don't know
4/No
5/744's are all RR (at the moment) 747's are not 3 have CF6-50
6/ Which Trent?
7/ Can't remember thrust, it is the only Engine on any 340-330
8/ 200
9/ and 10 no idea
11/ yes
12/ Xiamen and Shanghai are new destinations new ones being added all the time.
13/ No, not in the air
14/ Don't know
15/ LE flaps pneumatics then electrics, TE flaps HYD then elect.
16/ Don't know

18/ You're welcome, I'm firmly on the ground and don't fly so can't answer some of your questions I'm afraid.

7) It's the Snecma CFM56-5C4 (I think) 34,000 lb's of thrust.
14) Don't quote me, but I seem to recall something I've read about the 400 pressurising partially on the ground to...a, Seal the doors, b, prevent cabin pressure bumps in the event of an early return after takeoff and c, to provide extra fuselage ridgidity.
18) No worries
Cheers

5 / The PW engined aircraft are 747-400 from SQ that are going to become SF. Some of the 747-200F have GE CF6-50, according to this site:

7) What is the thrust of the GE CFM56? Is this engine only on the 340-300 at CX?
A343 used both CFM56-5C2 and CFM56-5C4 model
CFM56-5C2=31,200 lb thrust
CFM56-5C4=34,000 lb thrust
as of the 2000, all 14 A343 are using CFM56-5C2,
and I am not sure after 2000.

I heard they will the interview will be half personal questiona and half techical question.
Also depends on your aviation back ground, those who got frozen ATPL and overseas will be judge harder than non-flying local.
good luck to all

Your info is incorrect. All CX A340-300 have CFM56-5C4. It is the A340-200 of which CX use to have a few leased from Philippine Airlines in the mid 90’s that use the CFM56-5C2. These aircraft left a long time ago.
Reading this at face value, (maybe you were trying to say something else), but sorry this is also rubbish.

thanks for the update 404 Titan:
I got those info from the book "Prepare for CX interview" 9th edition, publish in 2000, and it only has info about A343 use CFM56-5C2, that's why I said I am not sure about any updated info. Thanks for the correction.
