You have to go to Hong Kong Island to take a Ferry to Macau. Takes around 1:30 hours, it's a different ticket to the normal ones. You'll need to pay a lot more to go, it's sort of like international travel. Also, if you do live in Macau, becareful there are a lot of casinos there and everyone ends up gambling. Seriously, I mean that's one of the main features of Macau.

Cheers

Correct, it's a gambling city. Besides that, there's a lot of really amazing and cool stuff there, take a look around when you're there.

Yes, I think Macau is part of the Fragrant Harbour Forum. I can't see any other forum it can fit into.

Cheers!

Yep.

And you don't have to be a fighter pilot to experience "Mig Alley" in Macau!

Well I leave this thread here then and see what happens. Anyone know how many Expats work at Air Macau? Are the benefits the same as some of the Hong Kong Carriers? Also what is the tax rate over there?

To the moderator,
This is my last attempt to keep this alive. I realise Air Macau is a smaller employer so tha chances of a reply from them may be scarce.

Fair enough SG, no harm done.

Have you delved into the Air Macau website and dug up their DFO's name and address? Just a 'phone number would do, get his name and address and send him a letter.
You may just find that the expatriate minded from Portugal have filled the available expat. posts, just a thought.

Flight Operations Department 396 6501 fax: 396 6566 keep calling them, it is a slow and laid back kind of place, so may be things take their sweet time to happen.

Reply.

Hope It's not to late for the reply.
This is what I know about AirMacau. It operates 5 - A319; 1 - A320 & 5 - A321. One 727 on a wet lease contract from transmile for Cargo and two A300 also wet lease from Trade winds cargo also.
Contract is 4 years. No PIC direct entry.
F/O Salary is 5000US / month basic, plus house and flt. time equals +/- 5700US.
Type rated a plus, or if you get lucky and get rated inside the company they will grab you by the balls until the end of the contract. F/0 Minimum experince is 1000Hours total.
If you have jet time you get direct the higher F/O salary, if not get stuck with lower salary for the first two years.
No benefits at all, except for a terrible fund at the end of contract. Get one month salary for every year contract.
They fly mostly China and South East Asia.
They depend like a lot of the airlines in the region of the links between Taiwan and mainland china, and the outlook is not very bright considering that sooner or later they will have direct links through the Formosa strait.
Housing is cheap but getting higher with the Casino's fever. Average flat will cost 400 - 500 US.
Most pilots are expats. 65% Portuguese, 20% Brazilian and a mix of Philipinos, Chinese and others.
I know a few pilots there and they tell me life is good in Macau.

Hope this helps.

I suppose unlike other carriers you see pulled to pieces all over the PPRUNE threads that the fact nobody writes about Air Macau says something. They must have got it right or they don`t exist.. Whatever your guess??

The pilots I met from there were all happy. Although many only stay for a few years before returning home. Very little English is spoken in Macau - really only at Portguese restaurants.

The major issue at the moment is getting visas - you need to be rated on type (A320 family) and then wait up to 3 months to get the paperwork done...

No mystery about Air Macau.
Actually they are currently looking for F/Os, 3000 TT, +/- 1500 Jet, A320 type rating an advantage.

For conditions just PM me.
