How long before school?
I just got hired at Cathay, direct entry f/o. Can anyone tell me how long before class starts? They tell me a year. Is this accurate or worst case scenerio? Thanks

What are the odds?
Sorry, I can't answer your question. Do you or anyone else know what the recent historic pass ratios are for the 1st and 2nd D/E F/O Freighter interviews? (ie., say 1 in 4 make it to the 2nd interview, and of those that do, 1 in 3 get a job.) I'm trying to figure out if they weed most out during the 1st or 2nd interview, and what the odds are for the 2nd interview. Thanks to anyone that can help!

9mths to 1 year is about right at the moment..... but the new year may just be bringing a few announcements that may see that come foward a wee bit.
The truth is the training machine is working to capacity at the moment....... there are more rumours of us hiring simulators in Beijing and Taipei again.
1st interview is the major weeding. After all, why fly you to HKG for a 2nd interview if youre not worth it!
When you come to the 2nd interview, the party line is: "youve got the job already, just dont screw up the sim ride" (or the medical but mostly thats beyond your control!)

Thanks for the info guys. To answer your question, they told me 1 of 6 get through phase 1. They also said don't screw up phase 2 and you will probably get hired. However, there were 9 of us at phase 2 and 2 of us got hired as direct entry f/o's and 1 as a s/o. So I'm not sure really.

Thanks guys! I'm through phase 1 with phase 2 to come. Tim, did you talk to any of the 6 that didn't get hired? Did they feel they messed up the sim or the interview, or were they surprised at the outcome? Also, I'm curious about the one guy that was hired as an S/O. Did he/she interview in phase 1 for an F/O or an S/O position? If it was for F/O position, any idea why he/she was not offered an F/O position? Thanks!

Just regarding the 1st phase interview. I went for phase1 as D/E/FO, got through the 1st phase but called up for 2nd phase as S/o pax fleet. Was told that I didn't quite have the experience for D/E/F/O. Strange thing is that I initially applied for pax fleet so I am stoked.
