jontyrhodes,

congradalation....the grading will take you two weeks there. during these two weeks, you will be asked to do seven flight tests. what they are looking is your ability to pick up the new things and retaining ability. no worries,, it won't be too hard. also, there will be simple aptitude test and computer skill test again.

By the way, you passed the second interview already? may i ask the format of that? thank you. have you done the thoroghfully medical check already? it looks like everyone got different procedure recently.

jontyrhodes,

thanks for your info. it makes me much clear about the process. As you mentioned, mid December: second round interview (30 mins technical and 30 mins general), numerical test, personality test, group exercise, group flight planning exercise, technical quiz (50 mc about the book)

I have following questions,

1. For numercial test, what is it about?

2. how can I prepare for it?

3. how about the group exercise and group flight planning exercise?

4. how many people involved in group exercise? how long it takes? what is the topic?

5. for the group flight planning, is it related to aviation?

sorry to take your time to answer those questions. by the way, if you have any questions about the flight grading, ask me to see whether I can give you any advice since I have been there by myself before.

thank you.

vhhh,

for numerical test, it's simple mathematics, around 30 of them, easy to do but not enough time to finish, so you'll have to do them fast.

for preparation, nothing that you can do for all the tests except studying the book that cathay gives you and some company information on the website.

group exercise is around 45-60 mins, 5 people doing the exercise together, discussing about a topic.

group flight planning test, 2-3 people working together, no aviation knowledge is required.

Hey Bagel, some people do take flight grading a bit too seriously. But as you know, sometimes people shouldn't pass but still do.

But seriously, for wannabes, flight grading should be taken at a little more relaxed pace. Just do your best.

Good luck

Can you tell me some details about the through medical after the first interview?

are you shortsighted?

How long did you wait for the through medical check...sounds like a month from your previous mail.

Did they send you a letter for further medical check or just a letter or what.?

Thanks

CX111,

I have around 150 degrees of short-sightedness in both eyes. After the first round interview, they will notify you by phone within three weeks for whether you can get through to the next stage. Normally, HR people will contact you by phone if you are located in Hong Kong.

Would anyone who has been through the CX flight grading process at Adelaide care to share their experience for a wannabe (w/ some flying experience) scheduled for one?

JR? JJP? anyone?

Thanks!

It is what it mean literally. They throw you in a plane and see if you got the basic skills to be a pilot.
