Maui to Hong Kong
Aloha!
I am a lowly FO currently working in Hawaii with dreams of someday working for Cathay Pacific and would greatly appreciate any advice from older and wiser fellow aviatiors.
I am a long way off with only 1100 TT and 100 Turbine but want to get off to the best possible start as far as establishing my interest in working for CX...
I am hoping to travel over to Hong Kong in a few months and would really appreciate any advice on the best way to initiate contact, cheap places to stay, people to try to get ahold or anything else!
I have experience living and working in Japan and China and speak a bit of Chinese and fluent Japanese (not a big help in HK I know but at least I can read the menus).
I know it is probably a long shot working for CX, but I can only follow my dreams.
Thank you for all the great info and advice on this forum and if anyone is coming over to Maui you have got a couch to crash on!

I like your attitude......
With a bit over a thousand hours you may have a year or two before you get and interview, however saying that i know of one that had an interview recently with only 1500 hours. So keep on updating, and keep that positive attitude, and I'm sure u will be flying for CX soon.
good luck

I agree, good attitude.
Dont discount the power of having foreign languages on your CV especially Asian ones, recruitment are looking to see if you will settle into living overseas and its obvious you are half way there.
Keep up dating and if you get over this way give recruitment a call and pop in and see them.
Most of us up here would love to here news that CX have decided to fly to HNL but alas dreams are free, my includes a 7 day pattern!!
Best of luck

A totally unnecessary and unwanted post. Try and confine yourself to something useful or informative please. Possibly time you grew up?

I can't think of anything more unnecessary and unwanted than that piece of garbage you posted. Hawaii50 has the right attitude and deserves a job at Cathay. Your attitude will only lead you to heartache and misery.
You need to loosen up a bit.
