Manc and Snake

Of course I smile a wry smile but most of all I sigh a sigh of frustration as all the heat generated by Crab and Jim is a tiny and meaningless tattoo on the backside of a general public that could...

Crab

Why then did the Air Force choose the Red Arrows over the SAR fleet?

Didn't they realise that cost is factor these days? Of course they did but nonetheless a curious interpretation of military...

Mil SAR -v- REDS

How does it feel to know that the military prefer the continued existence of the Red Arrows to that of MILSAR.

Puts all of our arguments in the shade when the perception in government is that Joe...

So you want to change the way we do this kind of thing?

Then have a read of Nicholas Saxton's book "Treasure Islands - tax havens and the men who stole the world".

This detailed insight into the history of corruption in government and finance is...

A note about training quality

I must point out that as a member of a large team dedicated to providing quality training we are also the victims of the regulators and the customers who both seem to think that in some weird...

I sometimes wonder why I bother

Crab has his agenda and presses on regardless. There is nothing in what I said in my last post that suggests that training should be reduced, is unnecessary, a waste of time or anything like that....

You will need to marshal your arguments a little better than this.....

..... if you want to make a case for more training.

As a trainer I'm right out there in the front line saying we can't get enough but there are a couple of things we have to acknowledge...

At last.....

..... someone demonstrating that the multi-agency approach is the way to go. If you are fed up with the traditional enmity between the Ambulance Service and the Fire Service then these guys and gals...

We prophets of doom....

... you are right Crab, as I pronounce the lack of competence in the global pilot workforce I am deafened by the silence and disinterest and in that respect I must empathise with your concern.

The '60 s ? Crab?

CRAB - are you suggesting that we should equate the equipment, protocols and procedures that will be in use during the next decade are on a par with those in use in the '60s? You may find a few...

What will we say about this thread.......

....... when the MILSAR in the UK is long dead and buried?

It has been said that in the context of medical care each generation from time immemorial has been more than satisfied with the quality...

Cr@b

Well I for one have enjoyed the banter with Cr@b over the years and it's difficult to contemplate life without a good well-informed (if highly opinionated) slagging-off.

Irritating at times but...

Multo Rapido Sea King ???????

I had the opportunity to fly the AS 61N1 Silver in 1982 and we were scooting along at 144 knots but the collective was under my armpit, the Tq was 86% (max Cont) and the thought of that horrible...

Jim - RUSI

RUSI specialises in research, research is about what has happened, what has happened is in the past, QED what is passed is interesting and relates to today and the future. It's called 'learning the...

SAR Owl

The Sea King - from memory - has TD and TU with the MoT being an Observer function. He would drive you to a TD position having marked the on-top position on his plot or use a radar fix from the...

Fog flying

To be fair to both sides of the camp the degree to which you have been exposed to fog-flying will colour your judgement. Remember the crabs were first exposed to Sea King Ops in an RN environment -...

Beware hyperbole

I always bristle when I hear or read about someone leading off about saving lives. There are a number of organisations that are very quick to wrap up there efforts using the 'saved lives' title but...

CRAB

What we are looking for - in the re-attitude stakes - is the desire to be as good as you possibly can with just one hour of training a day. There are many who have to manage with NO daily training...
