I think the problem might be premature...

I think the problem might be premature optimization. Skipping to the end is quicker if the flight ends in the UK so there are only a few waypoints after entry, and slower if it continues somewhere...

The algorithm used to find the UK portion is, not to put too fine a point on it, dumb. It works by searching forwards...
