Why not replace pylon?

Why put a good engine on a compromised pylon? Engine and pylon will have to be removed at destination anyway. Then good engine and pylon will have to be reinstalled.

We know one blade detached from the hub - perhaps more. The rotational forces may have overloaded the flange.

Or the flange failure resulted in blades rubbing the containment ring and initiating...

Possibly a fan blade, but can't say for sure from the available photos. Cowl pieces are the other possibility, some fragments in the vanes look like composite.

There's a lot of rotational energy in the fan. Once the flange failure began its progress, the fan would wobble and remove whatever beside the containment ring that was in the way, mostly cowl.

I had a look at a GP7200 cutaway. Interestingly it seems the first 5 or 6 compressor stages turn with the fan.

The failure seems to be where the fan attaches to its end of the LP shaft.
