Most for the money is the Maule. Get a proper one with the wheel at the right end, and if you can afford the fuel burn, the -0-540 Lycoming is as near bulletproof as you can get.

I agree with AGED

All the Western Scottish airfields are worth the visit. Oban to Inverness through the Great Glen is magic. Watch out for the military though.
Connemara and the Aran Islands...
