Wasn't one of the reasons for cancellation the US abandoning the Sparrow 2 missile (due to it being a technical failure) and the resultant cost burden that fell on Canada to try and bring the weapon...

Question 787 Electric Airframe Anti Ice

Does anyone know how unservicabilities are dealt with as related to MEL? Is the failure mode "fail on" as with engine anti-ice? I was told the airplane could be dispatched with the system inop.
