Their Atol extension is until midnight. I read in one of our great British newspapers that an announcement would be at 4pm but I've not seen anything from the CAA to that effect.

I've had mine weighed. Plenty of reports of them weighing hand luggage but no one can tell you if the agent on the day will weigh it or not. Best to stick within the rules then you don't get any...

Just read a post on TA from someone that's flown Virgin PE and Thomson PE. He said they were similar in service, food and drinks, and seats very similar in pitch and width.

Thomson have two 788s on short haul during the summer, but it's not unheard of for a longhaul configured one to be used on short haul as well. LGW-HER was operated by a 788 on some dates this summer.

The announcement on their website says it's an extension, and it's still great news. The CAA wouldn't have granted it if they weren't pretty damn sure that the investment was forthcoming.

Monarch flights are sold through First Aviation, who hold the Atol. If they no longer held an Atol Monarch could still sell flights direct. There could be no package holidays sold though.
