It's worrying though that there are still a few "Van-Zanten" attitudes flying aircraft at BA.

I know that you should NOT force the door open...

I know that you should NOT force the door open unless you are sure the "Power Assist" has failed. Pushing the door unecessarily can cause it to jam. This was shown in VS023 landing at LHR in 1997.
