Just talked to a friend at Mangalore with ix. confirmed no MELs.
He quoted eyewitnesses as saying that the aircraft made a pretty steep approach and touched down close to half way down the runway....

well buddy... no typo... its just that Indian Aircraft rules were formulated in 1937 and even though amendments are made to the rules, the publication still retains the name...

well lets put it this way....... I did read the entire thread pretty well.. And to your utter shock and surprise, my AME License says on its fist page that this is in conformation to ICAO type II...
