72?

I can recall 24 to 36 aircraft stated by Qatar back in 2011. Not sure when and why it went to 72. And what does it tell us that it was Rafale first? Personally, I think this surprised nearly everyone.

Delivered 1999

CFMI release states the engine was delivered in 1999, so that makes the arithmetic less onerous.

I imagine that TUIfly has above average stage lengths - relative to a loco, that is.

After how...

Must depend on what angle, surely

Likely get bitten here, but the angles are going to be changing all the time, so 'certain angles' must be a moveable feast.

My impression was that there is a lot more to a low RCS than that. Takes...

JSF always sounded like a Paradox

Please indulge two layman's questions:

1) This more stable design of the F-35 presumably makes it a good strike aircraft or are targeting devices so good these days that it's irrelevant (I imagine...

EADS, not BAE

The Typhoon campaign in India is being fronted by EADS, not BAE - just for context.

BAE has already built as good a presence in India as any defence prime contractor I can think of through Jaguar...

Can 75% of customers be wrong?

Yes, quite. Thank-you.

GE did a neat hatchet job in my estimation. Made sense in that the GE90 needed to secure a future.

The wonder of RR's engine technology is reflected in the mantra -...

RR in trouble? Hardly

Gulfstream make bizjets, I think. All the large cabin aircraft have RR engines. So, RR alive and kicking there.

As for the 535, I seem to remember airlines switching to it having initially chosen...

Keeping your options open

I wonder if pitching this as the 'replacement' of the A320 or B737 sets the right tone.

Looking out 20 years, it's quite likely that Airbus and Boeing will not replace the A320 and B737,...

I'm just going outside...

Thank-you. I now have a starting point and will try to go forward without making a complete idiot of myself. Like Captain Oates, I may be some time.

Engineering is one thing (I'm still mopping my...

You and me both

Yes - it would be an interesting subject right enough.

As for open-rotor looking feasible, that's something I've been pondering since the A320/B737 re-engining got going.

Despite the success...

Hearing is believing?

It's open to interpretation, but Boeing certainly did not make any firm commitment to a replacement of the B737, in my view. There was, however, a loose commitment to some sort of decision being made...

Facts

Landroger seems to have expressed the correct sentiment, in my view.

I doubt RR gave any thought to its share price when the failure happened - it just wanted to get to the bottom of things. It...

Statement from RR

This afternoon, RR made a statement that seems to help us along the straight and narrow, the key parts being that the 'problem' is specific to the Trent 900 and that there is no link to the Trent...

Trent 900 - a number of versions

The difference between the Trent 970 and 972 is of note.

Nonetheless, it seems RR has certificated other versions of the Trent 900 that offer even more thrust. Those engines are presumably aimed...

ToBA

Don't think BVT and the MoD ever got round to signing a ToBA, not formally anyway.

Babcock hanging on for something similar for Devonport and Faslane. And don't forget the money ploughed into...
