Not very far (from memory a couple of hundred feet out on the main ramp), light is bright but best if you get a cloudy or overcast day as that makes it easier to distinguish

Took and passed Perf A last year as part of my CPL exams

It is (was) a generic aircraft performance type exam loosely based I think on a tristar aircraft.

Very confusing terminology, strange...

Yes he can ! But not a good idea !

Your friend can teach you to fly but unfortunately the hours and experience gained will not count towards your license so are worthless.

Unless your friend is a qualified and current flight...

I phoned Oklahoma to check on this and they were not able to confirm that you must be a US citizen to crew a US airline.

JAA not a prob for FAA CFI

An FAA flight instructor can be signed off to teach JAA syllabus after a brief checkride (only valid while staying with that school)

JAA instructing not a big deal for FAA CFI

Any FAA instructor can do a very quick check ride and be signed off by a JAA school to teach JAA syllabus. Only valid for that JAA / FAA school but that it all that is required.
