Cockpit naps - rules&regulations

Dear all,

as far as I know cockpit naps are currently prohibited in the US despite the excellent research conducted by NASA/Ames.

Does anyone know if there are any rules&regulations governing naps in Europe? My understanding is that it is not prohibited, and therefore allowed?

Also, what is the status in the US? Is there any progress in making it legal?

I guess that's what you are referring to. Thank you very much! Just one more question - and please excuse my ignorance here - is EU-OPS already in force?

It is just a little confusing, isn't it? I refer you to the post (#18) by Denti here. I guess unless you have some local bar on this in national regulations, yes it is 'legal' (and certainly sensible)..
