Pilots Proof...Airbusses
Hi out there,
it's not the idea that you use the safety features in any device to act more spectacular, it's just a protection if the "best pilot of them all" is making a mistake. So, try to get to work as fit as possible, stick to the procedure as good as it gets, and try to avoid any situation the aircrafts computer have to fix.
Only then i's a good feeling to have this additional bunch of "safety" built in...
In fact, once you have adapted to the sidestick (little inputs, if any) Airbusses are a fine way to work with. Only for landings with high and gusty crosswinds, you're never shure who is flying, caus' you never know where the control surfaces are...
The improvement would be a forced direct law feature. Maybe someone at Airbus has an ear...

Never said it wasn't important to find out why - that's why I said - "It is a relevant learning point for all of us". Balanced and thorough investigation of incidents is always the way to go, if we are to truly have a "safety culture". However, the investigation should be done by independent, knowledgeable and experienced people - NOT the press or individuals, however "respected" they may be.

Almost another one
CX CHIRP Feedback.
B747-400
Following a max weight takeoff, the PF called for flap retraction at well below flap retraction speed. The PNF hesitated and after a short period of confusion the situations was resolved. The PF realized his error and amended the call.
This is from last year. There were several more this year, hence the email from the Chief Pilot.
Again the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department ( as stated in the papers) does not see this as a safety issue.
Maybe when the flaps go up and the aircraft stalls possibly leaving a big hole in TST, they will see this as a safety issue.
