Exit row rules

Any comments on this scene?

This was take-off run in a KQ B777-300 last week. My neighbor in the exit row had his entertainment screen extended with the blessing of the cabin crew member you can see there.

I expressed surprise that it was permitted, and was assured that it was. It must limit access to the door in an emergency. KQ also seem more lax than most about bits and pieces of luggage - handbags, coats etc - in the exit row seats.

Any comments? Have rules changed recently?

Entertainment screens, same as tray tables should be stowed during the critical phases of flight , there should be NO bags or loose items by the exits
