UAV crashes into crowd at Virginia Motorsport event

Had to happen at some point as more of these hexicopters start to appear outside of military combat zones and over spectators and general public due to the nature of the filming work they carry out both for authorities s and as here commercial filming. I can see some panic setting in at the FAA and over here the CAA as the legal framework hasn't kept up with the technology. It Doesn't matter if it only weighs 1kg , if it comes down on you from 50 feet up, you will get hurt.

I hate to say so, but this is actually a legitimate case for compensation lawyer. If you want aerial filming on the cheap, you may have to pay for it!

It's also old news. That video has been doing the rounds for at least 6 months. That does not diminish the fact that it was not the wisest bit of flying!
