757 evac question.

757 evac question.
Quick question thats arisen due to recent incidents.
I'm booked on a flight in row 33 on a 757. This is the rear of wing emergency exit row and I will be on the exit seat.
In the unlikely event of an Evac is there anyway, prior to opening the door to know if the engine is running or is it a case of the flightdeck not calling "Evacuate, Evacuate" until engines are shutdown?

The evacuation checklist has the engines shutdown before the Captain announces the evacuation over the PA. Other than noise, there's no real way to tell if the engines are running in this case (normal operations would have the anti-collission light switched off after engine shutdown but not in an emergency).
The good news (risk wise) is that it is unlikely an engine will be running at takeoff power.
It has happened at idle power (self initiated evacuations) and I don't recall any engine related incidents.

Cabin crew may initiate the evacuation if things are really bad (catastrophic- fire etc) and they usually have a good idea regarding the engines.
As for doors 3 on the 757, crew are usually positioned here so it's probably not anything you need to think about.
