From flight dispatch to safety dept?

Dear colleagues,

As a part of above title says, would you be so kind to tell me your opinion for moving from flight dispatch to safey department?
I have opportunity to become a safety officer after six years in operations control. Would that be a step forward for me? What about salary, I mean in general, where is better salary?

Thanks,
CD

zmsudu;

You give us little to work from. Is this a national carrier, if so which country? What training will they give you?

And ignore Shell Management

Its a small private company, primary charter, with few scheduled lines. We do have quality manager who is also safety mngr. He need one person as support in office with certain level of responsibility and operational knowledge. Well I just wondering is it a step forward in aviation career? From there I would like to be involved in quality also. I have training and some expirience as internal auditor.

I did ignore him.

Thanks Sir.

p.s. They will provide me with safety training according to plan...

(a) you appear to have little specific background in the discipline ?

(b) the opportunity lets you dip your toes in the water

(c) you can reassess the utility once you establish a network of competent colleagues and have the background to do so

(d) one has to start somewhere
