'Question and Quote from Centaurus.'
"Also with both pilots fighting the controls sounds like a huge mistake. Who was in control - the captain or you?"
'Original Post by me'
"By this time I also had my hands on the controls and I realised the only way out of this was to fight and try to steer her to the runway. Our descent rate increased with a slightly noseup atitude, I told the captain to steer her to the runway he nodded and held on to the right rudder while also putting in some stick, with me next to him saying if he needed more or less with a slight nudge on my stick."
I had my hands on the controls centaurus, I was not flying or fighting the controls , as u rightly put, would have been a huge mistake!!!
'Second Quote by Centaurus'
"All that fighting the turbulence with over-controlling usually means the spoilers are moving rapidly and this makes things worse than they should be"
Kindly suggest a sober solution Sir, I'm all ears, thanks.
Hello Non-PC Plod, bad day or not, it is an open forum and Centaurus has asked questions that require me to reply, my only sadness is his reference to me grossly exaggerating my experience.
I wonder, has Centaurus experienced Windshear and such overwhelming Microburst as we did on that particular day, well all I can say is no amount of exaggeration from me can describe what we went through that morning, and the final outcome of most if not all aircrafts who have been through one of these speaks for itself.
Lucky me.

Who was flying and who was in control? It also sounds like you were taking over command as well. And just think about this, had you not been so lucky, who would have been responsible for the prang? And finally, having ideas is marvellous, but they have to be communicated as telepathy is not part of any command course I know about.
Personally, I generally welcome suggestions in anticipation of a problem but would go absolutely non-linear if you ever started grabbing or interferring with any control during an upset which was not asked for as part of SOP's. And what would you do during and engine failure?
Scary? Yes, but it is still no excuse.

Zazoo
A great post I don't know why I missed it when you first put it on the forum.

Get a life!! How easy of you to criticise from the comfort of your computer chair.
Piltdown Man
You are the very reason that CRM was brought in. As your name suggests you belong with the dinosaurs!
At no point does it even appear that Zazoo is trying to take over control, and if he was then your quote above suggests that it was a good job you were not the Captain that day, because I suggest that going
would have resulted in the loss of the aircraft. I find your comments dissappointing, and am bemused as to why you even bother to venture in to this or any other CRM forum. By the way SOP's are for 'Standard' situations. I would not classify this scenario as having anything 'Standard' about it. The sad thing is that you have another 14 years before retirement. I bet junior pilots are just queing up to tell you about their mistakes or experiences. Go on tell us, I bet you are one of your company CRM instructors aren't you
Merry Christmas
