EASA

I posted this on Tech Log, maybe it was the wrong place, maybe nobody wants to voice an opinion?
Have just read 2 recent (Nov) issues of Flight International with an article and a letter about EASA. The first is about recruitment (14-20 Nov) quoting a UK parliament report saying that EASA is 'an accident waitng to happen' with stretched resources compromising safety. The letter (7-13 Nov) considers that EASA 'does not make its regulations clear and has a policy to openly promote regulation interpretation.'
With one a govt view and the other a private one, is the overall view of EASA a poor one? What benefits have people seen from the establishment of EASA?
Maybe this is a better place for discussion.
